OXOGood Grips 3-In-1 Avocado Slicer - White

I bought this for a friend for Christmas as I already have one. At my age, I've learned that a lot of gadgets are money-and-space-wasters; not this one, it's a boon. Slice around the avocado with the crinkly plastic blade, split the fruit open, press the metal-spiked dome firmly over the stone slight twist and it lifts away. Then use the 'grille' end to scoop out neat slices. Rinse the tool and bung it in dishwasher..so easy. I love avocado but used to be put off having them as they were so awkward and messy to prepare, not any more! Highly recommended.

After cutting my finger very badly (using an extremely sharp knife) whilst trying to de-stone an avocado and followed by a trip to A&E, the doctor recommended I purchase this kitchen implement.I wish I had purchased this item years ago.It's very SAFE and extremely easy to use, and it will not cut you. You can use it to half the fruit, de-stone it without touching the stone with your fingers and it will assist with the removal of the avocado flesh.There are other (cheaper) makes on the market, but OXO products are well made. You get what you pay for.Highly recommended product.

The scoop takes the flesh out easy enough but can get a little messy doing so.

After two avocado de-stoning related incidents nearly a year apart which resulted in visits to the minor injuries clinic both times I bought myself one of these before I ended up doing any serious harm. I really wish I had done it sooner as it is so easy to use, cuts the avocado in half easily, makes stone removal super easy and the cut and scoop aspect means I always get even slices - perfect finger food for my toddler! And all without a sharp knife in sight. Only downside is the dishwasher doesn't always get the slicer fully clean, but a quick rinse to get bits off straight after using and it usually comes out clean. Well worth the money if you're a little clumsy like me!

It is a 'gadget' but still very useful. Great for scooping out the avocado flesh and cutting into nice slices.

Let's face it...Despite lightly squeezing avocados in the supermarket, getting the preferred consistency right from the ones we buy is certainly difficult, and that's where the problem with this item lies...I am generally impressed with the OXO range of kitchen utensils, but this avocado tool really is not the best.It works acceptably in very firm avocados, but slightly fibrous or softer ones and you still really are better off using a sharp knife and a dessert spoon.It's not down to my dexterity or technique either... OK for safer stone removal than prising at the stone with a knife, but otherwise a "chocolate treapot" for a great deal of the time that ends up simply mashing the avocado.I've given up and it sits at the back of my drawer now.Definitely one to give a miss...

I've been really pleased with this. I found that the knife element took some getting used to just because it was a strange shape to hold, it did however cut through the skin perfectly every time. The stone remover is effective and simple to use.The only fault might be that I haven't been able to get the slices. I find it's more a combination of slices and mash. This is fine for what I want but may not be useful to all. I'm sure part of this depends on the ripeness of the fruit.I keep this at work so that I can have avocado prepared at my desk without any mess or hassle.

Obviously everything this does can be achieved with a knife. But if you're like me and prone to accidents, this is so much safer for you. I really cannot fault it.It's best to clean it right away because avocado dried onto anything is hard to clean, especially so if you leave it in the slicer gaps I would imagine - simple fix, just rinse it all off right after using then give it a proper wash later when you're ready/put it in the dishwasher if you have one. It's really easy to clean of you follow this method.Great value for money and high quality product.

Not-so-fun-fact: Injuries while slicing avocados are so common, the term "avocado hand" was coined and is widely used in medical and media reports.I haven't had any injuries, but I've neglected my love for avocados because it takes me about 20 minutes to slice one up with a knife, all while experiencing high levels of anxiety after hearing about "avocado hand".I also tend to avoid overly specialized kitchen tools, but after recently spending an hour preparing a salad for Christmas dinner (50+ minutes on the avocados), I caved in and bought this tool. That was, perhaps, the best decision I've ever made.I normally wait until I'm about 3/4 done slicing an avocado to start the toast. My first time using this, I decided to be brazen and start the toast first. Before it finished toasting, I had already sliced and gutted the avocado, and even washed the tool. Have you clicked "Buy it Now" yet?Steps 1 and 2 couldn't be better. I had my doubts about the plastic "knife", but it sliced right in and made quick work of the shell. Removing the pit was astonishingly simple. No more "whack and twist" knife maneuvers, which is nerve wracking despite being regarded as the safest method. No more accidentally splitting the pit, requiring additional extraction methods. Just push and twist.The only negative, or con, would be the third step of scooping out the avocado. As you can see by the pictures, I haven't been able to get nice slices. The plastic blades don't glide through the innards as easily as the plastic "knife". I'm going to assume the avocado wasn't quite ripe enough to get nice slices. The rest of this tool works so perfectly, I doubt this was an oversight in the design, but rather the avocado still being a tad too firm.I'm generally mashing the avocado onto toast or mashing it into guacamole anyway, so this is mostly a moot point. I do hope I can get nice slices down for special occasions where the presentation factor matters.My avocado consumption will skyrocket thanks to this tool. If you're one of those "I don't need another niche kitchen gadget" people like me, but you also love avocados, trust me when I say, "you *do* need this"

I usually think items like this are unnecessary and silly, but after seeing all of the positive reviews, I decided to try it on an impulse.Wow, preparing an avocado has never felt so much like an infomercial before.The not-so-sharp plastic blade cuts the avocado skin surprisingly well and efficiently (straight cuts along the same plane of the avocado--with a knife, I actually end up off-plane a lot around the pit), the pitter grabs the pit very well to twist and pull it out, then the slicer scoops and cuts the avocado out in one easy motion.The anal, obsessive part of me dislikes that the slicer doesn't clean the skin off as stupidly clean as I typically do with a spoon, but the speed/efficiency of this tool is helping me work through my personal problems of being so obsessive about not wasting negligible amounts of avocado.

良く考えて作られています。グリップが握りやすく、安定感があります。写真付きで説明がありますが、英語なので分かりづらかったです。シールで日本語の説明が貼ってありますので文字が小さいですが、こちらを先に読んだ方が早いでしょう。アボカドを切るときは、カッターを固定しながらアボカドの方を回していく感じが良いと思います。刃物なので気を付けて使いましょう。また、種取りはしっかり種に刺さるように押し込んでから軽く回して取るのがコツです。スライサーは多めの料理を作る時に役立つと思いますが、洗うのが大変なので、一人でスプーンですくって食べるときは使わない方が後が楽です。良い買い物でした。

OMG! <3 <3 <3 I LOVE this 3 in 1 tool. I’ve been hesitant to buy it for the longest time but after getting a rather deep and painful cut on my hand while cutting an avocado I decided I had to try this tool. It took me about 15 seconds to cut, pit, and slice the avocado!!! It was crazy easy and fast. I was rather surprised at the incredible ease of use. The slicer part is a bit difficult to wash if avocado gets stuck in there but honestly probably still saving time even it takes longer than expected to wash.If you’re on the fence about purchasing this – DO IT!!! Well worth every cent….
