CREATESPACE Heads Above Water: Staying afloat in France
D**E
You think you know France?
You’ve been up the Eiffel Tower; feasted on fat, orange, mussels at the harbour in Honfleur; seen the Bayeux Tapestry; picked lavender in Provence; biked through Burgundy; slurped Saint-Julien on the banks of the Gironde. Now pick up your family and drop them into Limousin; buy a series of ruins; send three children who don’t speak French to school while you renovate your hovel; develop a gite with fishing lakes; populate them with 40kg monster carp and because life is so simple buy a handful of incalcitrant llamas because llama trekking would be…well…fun.Heads Above Water is a wholly original take on France. Like peeling a French onion Stephanie Dagg exposes layer upon layer of uniquely funny insights into the intricate workings of the social and bureaucratic systems where an incomplete building application elicits a ‘gallic shrug’ which invokes the spectre of a date with the guillotine. The ultimate expat guide to France as you’ve never seen it before.A delightful read.

Terrible editing
Terrible editing and many typo's. do they not proof read? Constantly referring to her children as the kids, such a horrible expression , Kids are baby goats. Not a bad read.

A great read
I read this whilst on holiday in the Limousin region (where the book is set). Loved it - easy read, funny anecdotes, and most of all a great insight into the difficulties and joys of living in France.
