Very clever - but very similar
Over the last few weeks I've read and reviewed a number of the Gabriel Allon books and, with `The Secret Servant' the similarity of the underlying story-lines are inevitable and inescapable. This time Daniel Silva focuses on the threat posed - both worldwide and in Europe - by the rise of militant Islamism and with the unwillingness/inability of Western civilisation to deal effectively with terrorism. There is, however, a light-hearted finale to `The Secret Servant' when Israeli intelligence - a.k.a. Ari Shamron - decides that organising a wedding is simply another operation; something that, as Chiara discovers, can be done within a matter of hours rather than months.Yes, Daniel Silva (with a little help from Gabriel Allon) has given us another first-class thriller.Read and enjoy...

Perhaps the best Gabriel Allon book so far
This book is quite simply brilliant. It really does give you the feeling that the heor is never quite in control of proceedings, and I did actually wonder about the ending, as there were so many possibilities. When it came, it was perfectly delivered and even to the last second of the climax I had no idea what the outcome would be.Well done, Daniel Silva - you have genuinely made me a fan of your work. It is brilliantly constructed, fast paced, and researched so well that it feels absolutely real.Buy this book NOW.

Gripping and topical spy fiction
Daniel Silva as ever uses his journalistic knowledge to keep the reader gripped, while educating the reader on aspects of the political problems the world faces. This book is thought awakening and scary. It describes mistakes made by various governments and secret services through time and the fall out from these. At the same time it is impossible to put this exciting book down once you start reading it.
