How to use Yoga
An excellent book for beginners. The pictures are very clear and there are more gentle options givens in all poses, so you can go as far into the pose as you wish. It is written in a clear style which is understandable to all and just gives the basics of a yoga practice. At the end of the book are sequences of poses for a week at a time so you can gradually increase the time and range of movements. If you buy this book and are not quite sure if yoga is for you, I think it will help you enormously to realise that yoga is actually for anyone and can only benefit. I started yoga just a few months ago at a 'senior' age because I wanted to keep mobile and flexible for as long as possible. Already I can see and feel the difference. This book helps you at home as an 'aide memoir' in between classes with your teacher.

invaluable
I bought this book on recommendation. I needed a guide for when I couldn't get to class. This is very clear and, as well as giving good guidance on how to achieve the poses and alternatives, it gives a ten week programme. I have used it a lot, especially when we were snowed in. It has also helped me to remember the Sanskrit names of some of the poses. I would particularly recommend it to go alongside classes, but I think it would also be useful to someone who has done some yoga but isn't going to classes now.

A handy guidebook for beginners
I began Iyengar yoga classes just a couple of months ago, but as they are weekly and there wouldn't be any over the holiday period, I wanted a guide to help me correctly perform the exercises I'd learned so far. This book does just that.With lots of photographic illustrations and step by step instructions on the pose, your posture, breathing and how long to perform each exercise, it gives me exactly what I want.I feel this is a book aimed at beginners and wouldn't be of too much interest to any experienced practitioners.

A reasonable book on Yoga, but not suitable for people with no previous experience.

I started Iyengar yoga in March and wanted to practice at home, as well as at the yoga centre. This book was recommended by one of the instructors. It's perfect for the type of yoga I practice as it not only has step by step instructions of the asanas, but also contains a ten week course at the end of the book. I highly recommend yoga and I highly recommend this book.

Highly recommended
This book was even better than I expected it to be! It literally has EVERYTHING in it and the pictures and instructions are so clear and simple to navigate. There's also a great plan at the end of it to help you work out your own routine etcWould highly recommend for anyone interested in this type of yoga!

A Great Book
This is a brilliant book. If you want to practise yoga every day you can follow the list of postures they set for you. Each day of the week a different set of poses. Good for someone like me who cannot remember what we did in class! Highly recommended. Plus it arrived really quickly.

Super photos
This is a great book. It is accessible for a beginner (like me) and lays out a doable 10 week/daily plan of progression. The photos are large and clear. My only suggestion is that if you are older, like myself, that you do it in more like 30 weeks to give your body more time to stretch and strengthen.

Excellent graphics for home yoga use
10/10 for this pictorial book on yoga, which is extremely helpful for home use by the beginner. When the yoga studio cannot come to the student, this book can instruct for short-term use.

THE Guide for Yoga: more than just poses
I love this book! This book meets the needs of beginner to advanced yoga practitioners, including suggested poses for headaches, tight shoulders, tight hips, etc. It is easy to read, and the photographs are extremely helpful.
