A good game, but the instructions could do with a bit of work
We bought this game for our 8-year old daughter, who's mad about Harry Potter. She reckons it's the best game ever, but I found it a bit frustrating to play, because I like the rules to be totally clear and explicit, and I don't think the rules for this game are. For example, if you throw a double and land on a square that requires an action, do you take the action before throwing again, or do you just ignore it until the end of your turn? In summary, the game is fun, but could have been even better.

Brought this board game for my Harry Potter fanatic daughter for her birthday... She loves the game and has played it with lots of her friends. Good present and arrived very quickly.

Family Fun
My daughter is a major Harry Potter fan, so this had to be bought. She loves it! We all love it as a family, as do friends who come over and play it with us.It's easy to explain and understand, although rules are a bit vague, which loses it a star - nothing you can't decided as a family how to overcome though. The board is a map of the Hogwarts site, which includes the school, Express Line, Enchanted Forest, Black lake, etc. As few as two can play, up to eight or more if you partner up. Unusual collection of characters as playing pieces - the expected Harry, Hermione, Ron and Luna are here, but then you get Crabbe and Goyle as well - no-one has wanted to play with them yet!If you know The London Game, this is a bit like that, where you have sites to visit, then race to get back to your starting point (one of the common rooms.) It's also a bit like Monopoly, as you have a collection of house points to start (which resemble monopoly money and are thick paper, hence durability rating) and collect more with each site you visit. More sites (cards) are picked up with each you visit, so you're scampering about the board, and can be sent back to base if you land on someone else's site. The winner is the player to have collected most house points by the time the first player returns to their common room when all cards have gone. The first player back might not be the winner! And counting house points is a mathematical challenge: counting in 100s, 10s and units :)Hence educational rating! We've always had good fun playing - my children are 9 and 11, and although my eldest 'slightly' prefers HP Cluedo, my youngest hasn't yet discovered how to play that tactically, so this suits her better. Recommended!
