Excellent device
After reviewing the many "gun" type infra red cameras with their high prices and tiny screens, I decided to buy the standard (not Pro) Flir for Android unit. I had read of incompatibilities with my oneplus 6 phone but decided to risk it. The unit arrived incredibly promptly (I live in Jersey where Amazon prime has historically not been great). I followed instructions and initially my phone did not detect the unit. A quick glance at Flir's help site suggested ensuring OTG is enabled (in phone's system settings) and it worked perfectly immediately. I then explored my house with the heating on in order to map the underfloor pipes. After allowing the heating to run for an hour, all the pipes could be seen highlighted on my phone's large screen. The subtle blending of visual and infra red images really helped and using it after switching off all the lights (at night) gave another helpful perspective. This is not a device for producing pin sharp hi res photos in the infra red spectrum, but the images (and videos!) give enough detail to identify pipes and other objects quite clearly. Video is very helpful in orientating oneself in the house as it can be hard to tell exactly where individual images were taken, without taking notes, after the event. The instructions should make it clearer that the unit charges it's internal battery from a separate (not supplied) charger, NOT from the phone. Very pleased with the unit which is well made and can have so many uses looking for hot spots. Even photographing cats in the dark is fun!

Works
Bought this about 9 years ago for my plumber father, still working perfect for checking underfloor heating, cold spots in insulation and such, I also like borrowing it for fun. Resolution is low on the thermal sensor but the software compensates by using the phones camera through the app to add some detail

Useful and cool, with a limited-functionality app
I am pleased with this product and felt that it was at a good price point during a Black Friday deal (~£130). I have found it incredibly helpful in identifying components and pipes of a complex heating system in my new (very old) house without disturbing floors or walls. My only frustration with the FLIR One is that it is part of a series of products which all use the FLIR One App. This app is part of the user guide to use the product, however, it seems as though some software-based features are disabled based on the camera model (e.g. FLIR One vs FLIR One Pro). Especially frustrating for me, the Custom Level/Span or manual Temperature range adjustment is disabled for this model, even though the hardware is fully compatible and capable of enabling the feature. I feel that the Pro model should stand on its own merits as a piece of hardware, with its much higher price point, rather than relying on enabled/disabled feature flags in the companion app. Despite this, I am having a lot of fun with my new gadget and I like how small and portable it is. As a first thermal imaging camera for hobby/DIY purposes, this is a good product that I don't regret buying. In future, I will probably consider an alternative brand to FLIR, as I dont agree with the commercial practice of software-locked hardware.

super interesting tech at really accessible price and form factory for me - quite impressed
I snapped this thermal imaging camera up on an amazon black friday deal, as it is something I've been interested in for years but this is the first time I've seen it at a price point that felt accessible as an impulse purchase for my own perpetual curiosity. The device itself has both a male and female USB C, one for charging the device, and one for communicating with the phone when it's attached. It has a power button on the bottom, and a rotary dial that is supposed to secure the C plug. First turning it on and getting the app to connect seems hit-or-miss and is mildly frustrating - but one synced it works fantastically. Because my phone visible-light camera is at the opposite end to the FLIR IR camera, there's a definite point-of-focus in the depth with the stereoscopic vision, and when I need to focus closer or further away, the thermal overlay doesn't match the visual overlay close enough - but luckily there's a really easy to use slider on the app that makes it super quick to get everything aligned again.

Stop! Think again!
I bought this for two reasons. I wanted it for a close range spotter for shooting and also for general use around the house etc. The centre of all that is bad with this product is it's power source. This has an internal battery, but the processing power needed for their MSX technology and the thermal camera just cripples it. I would much prefer the camera took its power from the mobile like Seek's equivalent does because I can charge the phone quicker, it has a bigger battery, it's LiPo and it's designed for fluctuating high/low current draws so will provide an overall much better experience and a longer thermal camera use time. So what were my gripes? 1. The unit arrived totally dead! The battery wouldn't charge. I persevered with the charging, using different power sources and I eventually for the battery woken up and it got a little charge in it. After eight hours!! 2. The battery only ever charged to around 80%. It never got above that. 3. The battery lasted about 12 minutes and you can see it depleting at a fast, steady pace. 4. It DOES NOT work in most modern Androids because most modern droid phones don't support USB OTG (On The Go) connections without a special, additional OTG adaptor. Which is hard to find and a faff. Without this, your phone simply won't recognise a camera is attached and all you'll see are the attached screenshots. The MSX technology is great in outlining your image and I got some OK images but I absolutely hated this from the off. It really is a total waste of money - I had it for three days, tested it in multiple scenario's but sent it back. I'm a total geek but even I hated this device - it's simply disappointing and not worth the time I spent in it. Overall, it is a VERY, VERY, VERY bad product from FLIR. A friend has an earlier model and the image quality was better on his too. This needs to be recalled, reviewed, rebuild and re-released. Stop! Think again! Thoroughly read up in this before you even consider buying it. I literally spent more time charging it than using it. This 1 hour charge claim is rubbish. It's more like 3-4 to get any decent charge.

I wish they had in BOLD and with red this info
Bought the camera and I put it to charge when it arrived for 15-20 minutes. I couldn't make it work and ask for a replacement thinking it was faulty. But when the new one came, pronto, the next day, same crap. So I thought they suck, but then I gave it one more try after I let it to charge for almost an hour. It did start and all is fine. Resolution is not like you can see in the expensive ones, but it does well for what I use it. The first one I just returned without checking it after a full charge. So, charge it well before you start playing with it.

Works great with my Pixel 6a.
Plug n Play at its best. I can't speak to its longevity but it works great. What you can do with it is up to your imagination or exacting requirements. 1. Install the App on your phone. 2. Charge your FLIR ONE GEN 3. 3. Turn on your FLIR. 4. Plug it into your phone's USB C port. 5. Enjoy the immediate results.
