Timex40 mm Marlin Automatic Leather Strap Watch Black One Size

Perfection!
I had been admiring (trolling) this watch for months before finally buying it. It is more elegant and classy IRL than in pictures. Very high quality watch right down to the soft leather band. 40mm is easy to read and the perfect size! Cool automatic movement visible through the back. I've purchased 3 Timex watches in the past year or so, but my gorgeous green Marlin is by far my favorite!

Beautiful watch for the money
I love the look of this watch. It keeps perfect time and the finish is amazing. No one would ever believe its a $200.00 watch. I swapped out the leather strap for a more retro mesh style 20mm bracelet for a vintage style.

Beautiful, but must be reset every few days
The watch is beautiful, the green face really shimmers in the sun.Quick minor note for Amazon - for some reason, this watch is listed in the women's department on Amazon. Timex's website lists it for men. Women may like it as well, but it is a men's watch. On the plus side, Amazon sells this watch much cheaper than Timex. The watch works great, I only ever take it off when I shower or working on something that could risk scratching the acrylic. I work from home and have been mostly sedentary recently and yet I'm still giving enough movement that I've never had to wind the watch since it arrived. I've read some folks say the rotor is too loud. I don't have much experience with other automatic watches, so I can't compare. I personally never notice the sound unless I start paying attention to it.Size-wise, I love it. I'm 6'1'' and about 250lbs, I don't have huge hands or wrists and it honestly fits perfect. It appears neither too big or too small. I can't speak for the band that came with it, I'm finnicky with watch bands and typically don't like the feeling of most of them (silicone, metal, leather, etc) and so I replaced it with a cheap nylon "sport-loop" style band and it wears perfect. Now for the unfortunate big con of the watch: it runs way too fast. As I understand this is a flaw for many automatic watches, especially with Timex. How fast? In a day's time, the watch runs about 15 seconds faster and so every 2-3 days it's running 30-45 seconds fast, and that's usually when I stop it to let normal time catch back up. Such is life.I also own a Timex Men's Standard (non-automatic) and it keeps nearly perfect time. However, 2 months after purchase, the Indiglo function went out and it's currently being sent off for repair. (This automatic doesn't have Indiglo function, FYI.)Overall, it's a good watch, just not quite great. Could be a case of you get what you pay for, but still I do wish Timex had a little better quality control.

Best Timex I Have Ever Owned
I love looking at my watch. I have always wanted a green dial watch. I bought one from Macy's. It was a Seiko. It just didn't look green. This baby is a work of art. The time is accurate and it winds without you knowing it. I have over 30 Timex watches. THIS is my favorite. And it's on sale? Wow, Crazy Good Deal.

All of these 40mm marlins are too big
Nice watch, but Timex autos are way too thick and bulky. 40mm Marlins are too big across, while the 34mm they offer is too small. Its just the facts for these vintage styles, 40mm doesn't work, same goes for Seiko 40mm+ Presage line - too big for the vintage design they are going for. That said, the design is very very nice on these Timex for a good price - beautiful- although you can barely see the green unless you are in perfect light, and there is a lot of glare on the dial. As for the loud rotor - that is definitely true, although nothing like the horrible sound of their quartz - but this must be an extremely cheap auto movement. Strange that Timex is loud no matter quartz or auto.

Good everyday driver (or beater as you will)
This green dial looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. I didn't think I would like a green dial but when I saw a picture of this on Instagram I knew I had to have it, and I'm not disappointed. The leather strap however doesn't look as good in person, but to be fair I'm used to wearing bracelets, from higher end brands. Also I think the leather is a little stiff and I need to break it in. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to get an aftermarket strap. Which it does have a quick release on, so it's easy to change out.I know these acrylic crystals get scratched very easily, so I'm probably going to baby it. It would be nice if the crown had a Hallmark as well. Having said that this watch is a lot of bang for the buck.I did buy this on Amazon instead of Timex direct because it was $20 cheaper. The problem I had with the particular vendor that sold this, is that this watch was apparently worn before as I can see where the strap had been bent and buckled and creased. The dial still had the protective plastic over it and I carefully inspected it and there weren't any scratches. The box was missing the protective box as well as the sleeve. There was no hang tag attached. The compartment underneath the watch box, didn't contain the manual or warranty card. As a guy who collects watches and eyeglass frames, I'm kind of weird about keeping all the boxes and paperwork. I didn't think it was that big of a deal to return. Having said that, I think I would have paid the extra 20 bucks for the proper items to come with it.
