Turn "dumb" lights into "smart" lights
I wanted smart lighting throughout my house, but didn't want to mess around with smart bulbs which limit your choice of lighting and stop working when somebody turns the switch off. Instead, I fitted these in each lighting circuit to turn "dumb" lights into "smart" lights. The units are very compact, but difficult to squeeze inside most back boxes. In most cases, I fitted them into the hollow wall adjacent to the switch. On one circuit, I fitted it into the ceiling near to the light fitting. They are not difficult to wire up if you have experience with electrics. The terminals are small, but sufficient. These work best with permanent live and neutral supplies. If you don't have neutral to the switch, I believe you can wire the Sx terminal to the neutral terminal. In my case, I wired them up as:- L: Permanent live- N: Neutral- S1: Switch (L1)- Sx: Switch (Com)- Output: Switched liveI combined these units with momentary switches, which allow me to turn the lights on/off by pressing and releasing, or dim/brighten by holding for a few seconds. Most importantly, these connect to Smartthings hub, which allows me to control the lights on the app, Alexa, IFTTT and most other services. Connecting these to Smartthings took a few seconds by pressing the switch three times in quick succession.I have created automated routines to turn lights on at sunset and off at 10pm, as well as linking lights together so my Hue lightstrips also turn on at the lightswitch. All of these routines have worked flawlessly. These aren't cheap, but they're worth the money to be able to have smart lighting throughout.

Brilliant!
Works flawlessly, its pricey, but the build quality is fantastic definitely worth it, and has power monitoring :Dif you don't have space to wire behind the wall switch as it requires a deep pattress, much deeper than one typically finds in a UK house, it is possible to wire into the ceiling rose instead if you have more space there, such as with a large kitchen light, where typically you'll find permanent live and neutral, in which case one wires as per a normal 3 wire install, except the switched live from the wall switch goes to terminal S1, and the SX terminal is left blank. (see attached wiring illustration) I'm using this wiring setup in conjunction with a momentary switch to support dimming via switch, not standard a on/off one.Note this isn't an officially supported way to wire this dimmer unit so use at your own risk, however it is working fine for me.

The best dimmer you can buy... but at a price
These Fibaro dimmers really are the best that you can buy if you want remote control of lights within a home automation setup. They are Z-Wave so you need a controller, but the sheer range of options and compatibility on these is amazing. Also and very importantly they work on the 2 wire arrangement that you generally find in UK light switches. There are some capabilities (like the ability to add a second switch which triggers Z-Wave events) that you don't find in many of these devices. They are expensive unfortunately, but you get what you pay for.

Great smart home tech which integrates well with SmartThings
Great dimmer that is easy to install and very customisable. I link mine with SmartThings and it works really smoothly (though needs a custom Device Handler). I have installed 6 and one was faulty so was a bit frustrating while working that out, but thankfully buying from Amazon they sorted me out (Fibaro support is useless). If at all possible I suggest aiming for a three wire installation since that way you should avoid needing to use the Bypass device and it will also run more efficiently. If going for a 2-wire installation and you have LEDs then you MUST use a bypass otherwise you will find that the lights never turn off completely.

Great product
This is a great little device. I've been struggling with finding a way to automate the bathroom lights due to the necessity of needing a particular light fitting which is moisture resistant, with smart bulbs not being an option. This has answered that problem. It took some time for my smartthings hub to pick up - I read that some just had to push the physical switch a few times but I had to reopen the switch and click the reset button a few times before it registered - but once it did (and after I had assigned the 'thing' to a custom device handler) it has been flawless. Really pleased and will be looking at investing in a few others for other rooms. Just a shame they are so expensive.

where is the B button
Been using Aeon dimmers and decidwd ti try this. Its going back in the box as can't discover it with smart things. Apparently there is B button somewhere which is hard to find. The one little thing which looks like a B button to put in discover or exclude mode don't show up on LED so you don't know if you are ready to discover or if its a button. Its going back in the box

Connected to Smartthings
I installed this today to connect with Smartthings. The installation was reasonably straight forward and would suggest watching a few videos on installation before you start. This does work with Smartthings straight off the bat, however the default functionality isn't the best. Suggest installing a custom divice driver and use the custom code discussed on the ST community forum. Had issues with the custom code to start with, however after a few changes got it working spot on.

Probably the best UK zwave dimmer - but needs extra unit to work with many LEDs
Several of these working well installed on 2 wire (no neutral) wall switch positions controlled with Smartthings. Check out the Smartthings forum for a device handler that works great with this model, the standard driver is for a previous model of dimmer and doesn't support the 212 at this time (April 2016).Also, although it is very compact, it may not fit in your wall switch backbox unless you have very deep backboxes. I had to add the BG 817 backbox 10mm spacer to create room. With LED bulbs I found I needed the Fibaro Bypass 2 add on as the LEDs were still glowing when switched 'off''. I wish Fibaro would include low current support in the dimmer out of the box.
