I installed this self-locking gate latch on my 6-foot vinyl privacy fence, and I couldn’t be happier with how easy the installation was. The instructions were clear, and all the necessary hardware was included—had it up and working in no time. This latch feels really heavy duty and sturdy, which is exactly what I needed. We used to go through latches all the time because the kids would slam the gate, but this one holds up without any issues. No more broken latches or worrying about the gate not closing properly. I also love that it works from both sides of the gate, making it convenient for everyone in the family. Plus, it has a spot to add a padlock if you want extra security, which is a great bonus for pool safety or when you want to keep the gate locked up. This is an excellent high quality latch. It comes with clear instructions and high quality hardware for mounting the latch. I mounted the door side hardware slightly lower so the door gets pulled up when closed. This helps distribute the door weight on both the left and right 4x4s. The video review asks to flip the latch upside down for right side mounting. That's incorrect. Follow the instructions included.

Up until using this gate latch I’ve used cheap low quit versions from local hardware store. This was a game changer. It’s strong and really latches the gate. Highly recommended.

The product is heavy duty, and well made. I particularly like how the latch bar is on a larger plate, it should be more sturdy this way. Reasons for a star off: 1) The dimensions were a little off. My post is very close to a wall, and the product actual dimensions is a little bigger than what was described. This caused a small problem for me. 2) The base plate of the latch has a handle. This means if we flip the latch part (to flip from left to right assembly), it would look different. One version would allow you to lock the latch from both sides, while the other version would not. It just seemed inconsistent, and most other post latch doesn't have an extra handle like this. Not a deal breaker though.

We were so happy with this we bought it again for another gate. Easy to install, sturdy, and it’s forgiving with space between your post and gate.

Bought this for my outdoor fence. I live in an area that gets both warm and freezing temperatures. It has held up very nice in both conditions. Even though it is black, is does not get too hot when in direct sun that makes it uncomfortable to grab onto. It comes with all the screws needed, and it can fit on any size gate! Gives piece of mind that you can attach a lock to the inside if you want for added piece of mind, I highly enjoy being able to enter or exit the same gate regardless of what I am doing.

I am impressed with the ease of operation for this gate latch. It can be operated with one finger or an elbow if your hands are full, very easily. It was easy to install. I did not use the directions to do so. Just attached the trigger latch portion to the solid post and the other immovable part to the gate... After lining it up with the latch. I did pre-mark and pre-drill the holes to allow the screws to go in easily. I was careful not to over-tighten as another review mentioned the head came off the screw. Also my gate is vinyl and I did not want to damage it. This gate latch is far superior to the previous push/pull type I had. Everyone HATED that one because it didn't work half the time. This one looks just as good or better but functionality is all important!

Reasonably priced, adequate quality gate latch. Would buy again.

Brilliant. Strong. Easy to fit. I’m a woman and had no trouble. I had to cut a bit from the gate post to fit. Was no trouble. Easily open with one hand and can use both sides. No more worries that the gate has blown open. Living on a road I needed something secure for my dogs and kids. 10/10

Very easy to place without diy skills, sturdy. Just remember to check which side you need to set on (left or right) as described on the instructions!
