A couple of problems, but overall fantastic!
This gets five stars because it is a fantastic contraption. There are a few problems with the design which you will see from some of the other reviews and questions - the double-sided tape which is provided to attach the fins to the propeller gear is not strong enough (I used superglue instead) and the the hole in the middle of the propeller gear is not big enough in order for the gear to spin freely on its axle (you need to widen it out e.g. with a drill bit - 2.5 or 3mm worked). That's a shame, because otherwise it just snaps together and the instructions are pretty good. There are one or two places where you need to be careful, but it's a well thought-out design.Once you've built it, it's a joy to watch it go, so I'd recommend it - just note the couple of issues above (which the manufacturers need to sort out) because if you're giving it to a child then they might be disappointed by it not working properly when assembled as provided.

Very well made and designed working model
The media could not be loaded. I was dubious about what sort of quality to expect when I ordered this as it was very reasonably priced, but I needn’t have worried.I bought it for my son as he has always enjoyed making things and I thought this would be of interest to him. It took him a couple of hours to make but was well worth the time and effort. It is a really well made and designed little model which works perfectly. He now has it on display on his bookcase as it is eye catching to people who have not seen one before. Finally I would like to give an extra bit of credit to the makers for clearly listening to customer feedback. I noticed that others had stated that the propeller fins could be a slight issue and may require glue. However, this has now been redesigned and the fins now clip onto little pegs negating this and ensuring that the whole things is sturdy and does not require glue.Fully recommended.

Looks great but needs a couple of modifications to function
Builds easily enough and looks nice when it's done but the propeller on mine is so tight it's unusable. You can still make it walk by turning the crankshaft but that kinda defeats Theo's original vision for these things. I also recommend connecting the sails with superglue and not the supplied double sided sticky tape.Update: So I was able to loosen the metal rod that connects to the propeller and it now works, though I recommend some kind of hair dryer or handheld fan as it takes a lot of blowing to get it to move!

Beautiful smooth walking motion...
Bought to satisfy my own childish curiosity and very happy with the result. Building it was a bit of a challenge, fun but I can see it would possibly frustrate some as there are some things which the instructions do not really cover. It can be fiddly so you may find yourself having to hold the model in a different orientation to stop several bits falling off while affixing another. Being loose however essential to allow the parts to move freely when driven by the wind turbine. Blowing on the blades makes it walk very satisfactorily and amzes everybody not just the kids. Some down point/s in the design: The blades are only held on using thin strips of double sided tape. As the blades are meant to be bent and put under tension, the strips are not really strong enough for this. When I get a chance I'll glue them. A craft knife comes in handy for trimming away the excess plastic after breaking the plastic pieces from their mouldings. Also comes in useful for making the odd modification and trimming when you find a piece is too tight and doesn't move freely (this only happened with one piece).Certain things to be aware of when

Great fun to build and fascinating to watch.
Excellent evenings entertainment from the build and a fascinating, lifelike movement.Fairly good instructions and very clear diagrams - I made one assembly mistake where the instructions seemed to change which end they were calling the 'front' halfway through, and one or twice I could have used a third hand, but otherwise nothing too difficult.Yes a few bits needed fettling, but no more than you'd except from any model which has been injection moulded and needs separating from its 'sprue' (a la Airfix and the like). Of the 12 legs and 12 frames each with 3-4 connectors each I had to fettle maybe four, all were overspill in the mould not mis-sizing and just needed a quick removal of a mm or so of excess plastic around sockets, using a craft knife. In neatness of appearance it does reward careful smoothing of those points where it's been attached and very neat and firm application of the doublesided tape.It ran well and at a stately pace from the household or handheld cooler fan, but the additional of a manual crank for it so it could be run by hand was fun too - it really scuttles along then!

Good model but will NOT WORK!!!
technically this is the most awesome engineering to make wind move a machine move sideways; however, in reality with the light plastic pieces, it is 99.99% likely that the entire unit will blow in the air but not spin the fan and make it walk.not worth the money if you are expecting this to work when you blow a fan!!! - don't have too much expectation. If you want to understand the logic, always go for this.

Missing a piece unfortunately.
A brilliant model if a little stiff, I would of put it as a five star if the large cogwheel wasn't missing. I'm positive I hadn't lost it as I counted out all the pics before opening the bags. It still works manually but the whole appeal was the wind could power it. Such a shame. I don't know who to contact about maybe getting the spare part or something but I'm so useless with the Internet. Anyway would recommend if you're feeling lucky, sadly I wasn't.
