Ctek CTE-56380 Ctek Comfort Indicator Panel Adaptor

It's a dashboard fitting extension charging lead that enables you to plug in a Ctek battery charger without opening the battery access door or hatch. It usefully, has inbuilt LED's to tell you if your battery is charged, draining or in need of charging. It's very well made (in Sweden) and does the job well but is probably a bit ovetpriced. It is good not having to open your bonnet or caravan locker hatch to clip on the charger unit, which just plugs into it.

Installation was straightforward enough and it allows a convenient connection to charge without crocodile clips under the bonnet, etc. I just close the boot with an extension reel in there, the 13A cable fits through the boot gap, just. Not ideal, as the rubber boot seal has to deform but it works fine.The indicator LEDs, however, are only accurate IF there is near zero drain on the battery.Unfortunately, as it was mounted in the boot liner as recommended, simply unlocking the car (a BMW, but applies to pretty much every car these days) puts a certain load on the battery with the interior lights and various modules waking up when you open it - which you have to do to see the indicator LEDs!* This means that even a fully charged battery (once surface charge is removed, i.e. a few hours after charging ends) will only indicate amber at best on the LEDs, as this small drain will drop the voltage below the green threshold, which is 12.65 V.The only time it actually shows green is immediately after driving (or charging), when the alternator (or charger) has been charging it up around 14V, as the battery voltage remains misleadingly high for a while (surface charge). Almost any battery, regardless of true state of charge, will register green in this scenario!If you can mount it to be visible from outside without unlocking the car, this would be an accurate voltage gauge. Mounted inside, it is next to useless. It will show red when it is still well over 12.4V. It's not necessarily a bad thing to charge it earlier than needed but surely the whole point of this gauge element is accuracy. This caveat should be mentioned, at least, in the manual but isn't.* I do occasionally remove my parcel shelf, which allows me to view it from outside, once the car has gone into low power sleep mode. Bit of a faff, though.As a side note, the unit apparently draws 1.5mA constantly, which is negligible.4 stars because, if you are aware of the above, it can be used accurately and the comfort connection is convenient. If you didn't know, though, it would be highly misleading.

Easy to fit for the CTEK, just don’t pay any attention to the 3 charge indicator lights , they will show red even with a fully charged battery after switching off the car after 15 seconds, pointless

Easy to install & very useful

I wanted to fix a permanent socket in my motor home dash for charging the vehicle battery with my CTek charger . Only thing that would do this and look good was this item . Expensive for what it is , i.e. a lead with socket on the end with three led's. Anyhow , connected the leads to my battery and I have fitted the socket in a spare switch cut out on my dash. Looks neat and I can just plus my CTek charger into it when needed , plus the three led's show my state of charge. So in conclusion , nice bit of kit but over priced for what it is

Fitted this in my boot permanently for ease of use with my CTEK MXS 5.0 charger. What a great piece of kit. Easy to install, makes charging the car a simple plug in plug out affair now with no unsightly cables or chance of crocodile clips detatching. The indicator lights are just that..indicators, but for me the real attraction was ease of use and a way of permanently attaching charge points to the battery (that is until you want to unbolt). Highly recommended.

Perfekt um es im Kofferraum einbauen zu können.Leider ist beim aktuellen Auto der Zigarettenanzünder mit auf die Zündung geschaltet, so kann man das Auto nicht mehr über diese Buchse laden. Mit dem Adapterkabel kann man schnell und einfach den Anschluss in den Kofferraum legen und direkt an der Batterie anklemmen. Die Anzeige ist besonders praktisch, man sieht einfach, wann die Batterie wieder geladen werden muss. Tolle Erfindung.Zum Preis. Da ziehe ich einen Stern ab. Es ist wirklich nicht viel dran außer Kabel, Sicherung, Stecker und ganz wenig Elektronik.
