Q: What size ducting would I need to go with this if the fan is placed in the bathroom, going into loft and out under the soffit?

The inlet and outlet manifolds both fit 100mm flexible ducting. I installed the fan in the loft, cut 102mm diameter hole in the ceiling to take 100mm air valve and connected the air valve to the fan using 100mm PVC flexible ducting. I installed a back draught shutter on the output side of the fan and then used 100mm PVC flexible ducting to connect to outside world. The system works a treat. Ive adjusted the run on timer to approximately 10 minutes and the bathroom is now steam free with no condensation forming on the mirror even with several of us using the shower one after the other.

No. I would not use it for anything other than a bathroom extractor fan.

I just ordered a back draught shutter at the same time (for about £5) and then taped it to the vent funnel (making sure I connected it the right way round and the right side of the vent !!!)

Anything over 3m should have a centrifugal fan to effectively remove humidity or smells
