I have paid for the printed version and I have received a bad and unacceptable copy
My copy of this book (the “Classic Print” from the ForgottenBooks publisher) is not acceptable: 52 pages out of the 213 pages of the book have marks and on 6 of the pages there are large black stains which cover many words which make it impossible to read some of the sentences. The “Read Online” version on the web site of ForgottenBooks.com does not have all those marks and stains!I have paid for the printed version and I have received a bad and unacceptable copy. I have previously purchased (also via Amazon) two other books published by ForgottenBooks which were of good and quite acceptable quality but for this book ForgottenBooks has failed to make a good job on the printed version (and it is even more frustrating since the “Read Online” copy is much better and of acceptable quality). I am returning the book.

No TOC
(This is about the greenish coloured book, described as "illustrated"}No TOC means not fit to be offered for sale, in my opinion. I'm angry with myself here for not checking the preview facility carefully enough.Immediately after wasting money on this I bought a first rate version, which has a picture of a sort of landscape on it. To add insult to injury it's cheaper than this one! Go for the landscape cover one.

The Sheep-like behaviour of Man explained
Essential reading for anyone looking to understand social behaviour. Although specifically looking at Man's behaviour when in a group as opposed to his solitary actions or intimate relations, Trotter sets out clearly how He is limited by instinct, by his genes, when in a group.
A**R
Trotter posits different types of groupings such as the wolf pack and a flock of sheep.
Trotter was interested in the possibility of increased sensory perception and it links up with the modern idea of morphic resonance.

Watch out!
This lone star is not about the book which is a classic and should be required reading for anyone interested in mass psychology, PR, or marketing. This star is not about the commendable effort to keep it available. The one star is about the miserable publishing job which is based on mediocre OCR technology: One cannot read this book for all the funny characters, the weird hyphens or missing blanks. Actually, one cannot be sure if some passages are altogether missing.Yes, the publisher admits as much in the nitty-gritty on the last page. However, this cannot be an excuse for not reading through the manuscript and correcting the errors. What is worth doing is worth doing well...Amazon should take note of this and let its customers know, too. There is another scanned edition available for the Kindle which I will probably order later on.22 January 2012: I got the Kindle version: Perfect. What really confused me with the pinted version was that footnotes are willy-nilly interspersed in the regular text. Thus the impression that some paragraphs were missing or lost. Simple solution: Get the Kindle version, only. A book that's worth reading is worth reading well.
