Blink Indoor Home Security Camera System (1st Gen) | with Motion Detection, HD Video, 2-year Battery Life and Cloud Storage Included | 3-Camera Kit

I bought the 3 Camera Wink system to augment my existing home automation system. My home system consists of Samsung Smartthings with various sensors, Arlo outdoor cameras etc.Firstly as usual they arrived next day as always from Amazon. They were neatly packaged it was easy to get them out of the package.Setup was a breeze using the small included hub, I put this central near my wireless router, download the app and connect.Connecting each camera was a less than 5 minute job.I have a fairly large 5 bedroom house and spread the cameras out, they had no issues connecting at all and in 1 month of usage I have had no dropouts at all (unlike the other battery operated brand I own).The cameras themselves are also fairly compact, they were very easy to fit above doors, again less than 5 minutes to fit and adjust the angle.The cameras can be confirmed to record anything from 5 seconds to 50 seconds on motion, and they can be told to stop when motion stops. Often with systems like this there is a lag between detecting motion and recording, however these don't seem to suffer anything like other brands I have tested.The video quality is reasonably good, and very each to access on the app.Motion section triggers a blue led on the camera, this cannot be disabled which is slightly annoying.The app is intuitive, simple to use, and passed the Mrs C test.I integrated mine with Smartthings via a 3rd party app, they then become motion sensors on my home network, I also have configured the cameras to automatically disarm when our system is disarmed i.e. we are at home, so its fully automated. The only thing I can't do in smart things is1. view recorded feeds2. get the cameras to record on demand like I can on others, i.e. front door opens begin recording hallwayI also love the fact its subscription free, I have 3 nest cameras also which are fantastic devices but the subscription and bandwidth usage gets very taxing very quickly.Battery life wise 1 month in they have lost between 8-15% battery so as expected on course for 9 - 12 months.A couple of negatives1. The night vision is not IR, it lights up an LED which at night almost blinds you! no good if you want it on while at home2. When recording the blue light is annoying3. no 2 way audioOverall if you want an easy to setup, simple high quality bug free camera system without a subscription this is the camera set for you.Highly recommend addition to any home.

I bought this camera to find out which one of my lovely neighbours kept pushing metal pins in my lock and cigarette butts through my letterbox. Ordered this on Sunday, had it delivered on Monday. Installation couldn't have been easier, downloaded the app, created an account, typed in the serial number of the hub and the camera. I've drilled a hole in the corridor and set up the camera to monitor the corridor outside my flat. I've caught the crazy old lady who lives next door pushing pins through the keyhole the next day. Had her son pay for all the costs I've incurred changing the previous locks and even the camera so couldn't be happier.Turning on and off is camera is very easy, I love the app. You can control the sensitivity, the length of the clip, how long it takes to re-trigger after the end of the clip. It's battery operated, wireless so it's very easy to install, sends all the video clips it records to your phone immediately, even has optional audio recording, and night vision is also very good.Also I love the fact that it's not really obvious that this is a camera, it could pass for a high tech smoke detector. This is not just my opinion by other people also mentioned this. There is the blue light but again, you'd only notice it if you looked at the camera directly.As someone already mentioned it's not picking up movement through glass. I've ordered a pair of cameras, one to monitor movement inside the building and placed the other in the window to point to my car. The internal function is faultless, but I didn't manage to get the other camera to record anything unfortunately so I think I'll send that one back.All in all, I rate this is as an amazing internal camera. Bought these cameras to keep an eye on pets and teenagers whilst I'm away from home. I have the 3 camera system which was very easy to set up, just a case of inserting batteries, plugging in a sync module, and downloading the app. I've mounted my cameras on the walls using the mounts provided, which was very easy to do and as the cameras are very lightweight the mounts are tiny and discreet.The cameras give a good range of view and the image quality is clear. There seem to be 2 options for viewing footage. Firstly you log in to the cameras from the app (I use iPhone 6s), and can 'live view' at any time, for any length of time. The other option is to set the cameras to record whenever they detect motion. This can also be combined with notifications alerts from the app whenever the camera is activated. You can then alter the length of time that the camera is recording, from 5 second up to 60 seconds, each time it's activated. There is also the option to adjust the length of time the camera is idle, (retrigger time), once it has recorded some footage, from 10 seconds to 60 seconds. That footage is stored in the cloud. So far I'm still playing around with what length of footage is adequate but the 5 second intervals seem to be enough and I check back daily to view them and then delete them, freeing up space, although this isn't really necessary as it's possible to store a lot of footage in there before it starts automatically deleting.Sensitivity can be adjusted but I've not really played around with that. I've got it set to about 50% and all cameras are picking up motion from people and the dog.Other points of note are that whenever the camera is on, whether live view or recording, a blue light emits from it. The light isn't too bright or offensive. However, if you are viewing the camera at night or in a dark room, a white light comes on to enable vision and this light is really bright and definitely offensive. You can adjust the light settings to 'low, medium or high' but even the lowest setting is very bright. Probably great for deterring burglars as they would be well aware of being watched.The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because other systems have a 2 way audio, whereas this is only 1 way ie you can hear audio but you can't talk back.Overall I think this is a great system and good value for money. Fulfils its purpose for my needs.
