Consistent results reliable
This item was bought because of the variation in readings from my two sets of digital scales. On each example I lost and gained pounds in seconds - that can't be progress. So here we have the "original" ancient salter scale that just works. Is it accurate? Probably not but I have no way of knowing. But it is consistent. Weigh three or four times in in a minute and the reading will be the same, a refreshing change from the digital offerings. So as an indication of the direction of my weight it does the job, consistently and reliably. No batteries it just works.

Basic, cheap, but pretty reliable
I ordered 2 pairs of Salter bathroom scales recently, these and a more expensive pair of Doctors' style scales. Overall, I am happier with these. Whilst they aren't very pretty, the build quality of these is pretty good. They're predominantly made of metal and have a padded cushion-ey step area (which I definitely appreciate on increasingly cold mornings!). The scales provide weights in both metric and imperial measures. In terms of accuracy, these are fairly reliable. My weight is the same over three different sets of scales, so I'm happy enough to believe that they're right. Unlike other scales I own, these don't seem to need to be reset every time I go to use them, so I'm pleased with this.Having said that these are reasonably reliable, this needs a little qualification. It's easy enough to see whether you're e.g. closer to 9 or 9 and a half stone (or 55/ 60 kilos), however, if you're hoping to get an accurate to the pound picture of your current weight, these probably aren't the scales for you. Even with its magnifying lens, the smaller graduations on this scale remain difficult to see unless you're willing to touch your toes to do so - this could prove beneficial in terms of encouraging exercise, but probably isn't what most people are looking for in a bathroom scale!

Good stuff
They look amazing, they look more costly than what they are and have a vintage look about them. They are quite small but that's ok as they don't take up much floor space. A nice cushion feel to them, which is wipeable and the magnifying weight gage is great. However, I'm sure mine are faulty as my weight seems to be going up not down 🤣🤣 Would love to blame this awesome product but feel it's more to do with me being a lazy 🐄 I'd take these anyday, more efficient than the battery ones that are all spandangle. I've bought the top of the range sensor ones that talk to you, work out BMI, body shame you, make you feel terrible , tell you you are doing useless etc...these do none of that, these are your friend. You simple step on, look down, step off. Mentally they are better to use. Don't need to programme them beforehand or declare your gender /height etc. These are good old fashioned scales that don't talk back to you and do exactly what it says on the tin! Highly recommended, go for it!

Mixed experience with Salter.
The Salter 484 WHDR Mechanical Bathroom Scale promises an easy-to-read body weight scale experience with its magnifying feature, but my experience with it was a bit mixed. On the positive side, the scale's design is sleek and minimalistic, blending well into my bathroom decor. The magnifying feature does indeed make it easier to read the measurements, which is especially helpful for those with less-than-perfect eyesight. Additionally, the mechanical operation means no batteries are required, which is convenient and environmentally friendly. However, I did encounter some issues with accuracy and consistency. The scale seemed to provide different readings each time I stepped on it, which made it difficult to trust its measurements. Calibration was also a bit finicky, requiring frequent adjustments to ensure accuracy.Furthermore, the build quality left something to be desired. The scale felt a bit flimsy and lightweight, and I questioned its long-term durability. The non-slip surface could also be improved, as I found myself slipping occasionally, especially with wet feet.Overall, the Salter 484 WHDR Mechanical Bathroom Scale offers some useful features and a sleek design, but its accuracy and build quality leave room for improvement. If you're in need of a basic bathroom scale for occasional use, it may suffice, but for those seeking precision and reliability, there may be better options available.

Weighing Scales
Love these scales! They give an accurate reading, good quality, and good value for money.

Unfit for purpose
Flimsy, lightweight, poor quality but most of all …… weight varied by over 10 lbs over a 10 minute period of stepping on it four times. Whilst I am more than happy to take the lower weight, I am very sure this is not a true representation. These scales are not fit for purpose and I would have returned them had I not already destroyed the box.

Ideal for all
Great scale, not so good eye sight, but these are very clear to check weight.

Works fine. Could do with a larger base plate
