Great machine for one or two portions.
Great wee machine! I actually bought it to make "ice-cream" out of diet shakes as a low-calorie alternative to the real thing and it worked really well! You freeze the bowl overnight, then put your mixture in, pop the lid on with the beater and switch it on. Let it run for about 20min and voilà! It's not noisy, and cleanup was really easy too.Perfect size for one or two servings, and the small size means it stores easily - can even keep the lefttovers in the bowl in the freezer!

I've waited until i have used the machine a couple ...
I've waited until i have used the machine a couple of times before posting a review. The first time i used it i put everything in turned it on and walked away. After a few minutes i heard a banging noise and found that the lid had come off and was spinning around, i thought no problem and weighted the lid down. After a while the machine turned itself off and i assumed that meant the Ice cream was finished, unfortunately it wasn't frozen though. The second time i used it to make a sorbet. The same thing happened with the lid and it needed to be weighted down by books again. Once again it also turned itself off before the sorbet was frozen enough to eat. Don't think i'll be using this machine again. Going to look for another one.

Ok for price, decent enough ice cream, but glitchy and sometimes annoying
This was cheap and CAN make quite nice ice cream but it's frustrating to use! I'd say it makes one pretty large adult portion or two kid's portions of ice cream. I usualy let it freeze over night or longer but have used it effectively from just under the recommended 8 hours. The lid doesn't stay on so it bobs up and down while mixing, stopping it from effectively making the ice cream. I have to weight it down with something heavy, which is tricky as the 'heavy thing' can easily dislodge/fall off causing kitchen catastrophes! Also the instructions weren't particularly clear, it is fairly sttraight forward to use but was slightly confusing at first. - There's a knack to getting the washable bits off, and the icecream gets on the non-washable bit, which is annoying. Also you have to time it right so that it's done but you don't end up with over frozen (and unpleasantly dry tasting) bits of ice cream on the bowl, but the ice cream sticks to bowl no matter what you do so it involves lots of scraping and hand mixing afterwards anyway, (which scratches and dints the bowl.)I actually found it quicker and more effective (though it aches my weak arms a lot!) to hand mix the ice cream in the bowl with a spoon as you can more effectively scrape the faster freezing bits that stick to the side and incorporate them into the mixture.Despite all this I have made some pretty tasty ice cream with this thing, but the lack of ease, the faff, and the over frozen bits means I've stopped using it and have often wanted to throw it out of the window.
