"Your going to ruin this mission!"
Jason Statham as a spy/himself "I've swallowed enough microchips to build a computer. I $%&@ing crashed through a road crash railing & I was on fire NOT the car just me on fire. I have used a raincoat as a &%$#ing parachute broke both legs & STILL had to pretend I was in a &%!@ing Circus De La show. This arm (right) has been ripped off & sown back on with arm(left). I in Black-face & a latex mask of Barrack Obama I appeared in front Congress as Barrack Obama during an assassination attempt. (my favorite) These 2 collogues told me about a Face/Off (film reference) machine that can realistically swap out me face I need to use it today"

Absolutely love it
It is a shame I will never be able to show this to my girls, because of all the swearing. Aldo is one of my favourite characters apart for Susan. But there is so much great acting and gorgeous story writing here ... just a joy.

Jason Statham Comedy - He's funnier than Melissa McCarthy!
I cannot say that I am a fan of Melissa McCarthy, but I found this film generally amusing, if not laugh out loud funny. It was however the McCarthy’s co-stars that made it for me, Jude Law playing a super smooth James Bond clone, Rose Byrne the spoil villainess and best of all, Jason Statham completely OTT as ‘Rick Ford’ sending up every role he has ever played, albeit even he started to wear a bit thin towards the end - although his last scene on the ‘lake’ is admittedly, one of his funniest in the film. However, McCarthy’s violent foul-mouthed act rapidly grew tiring and whatever was Miranda Hart doing in this film, she seemed to be in the wrong film entirely? However, with such a superb cast, Alison Janney, Peter Serafinowicz and Bobby Cannavale included, I cannot help but feel that this could have been so much funnier. As such, ‘Spy’ comes off second to the recent ‘Kingsmen: The Secret Service’ in the spoof spy film genre, and lags a long way behind ‘True Lies’, whose opening this appears to pay homage, or even the Chevy Chase/Dan Aykroyd film 'Spies Like Us'. Unfortunately, whilst talented, Paul Feig is not in the same league as directors, Matthew Vaughn, James Cameron, or John Landis, especially in his capacity as the film’s writer. Whilst the action is well choreographed and a few gags are very funny, overall the script is uneven, quite weak and over reliant on gross gags, crude dialogue and a great deal of profanity.Whilst I doubt that I will rush to see the Feig/McCarthy re-boot of ‘Ghostbusters’, I still suspect that Paul Feig is going to become one of the better comedy directors around given time, although for him to fully match his potential, I think that he will need to find another more appealing lead actress/actor. That said, he still has a long way to go to match the skill of the directors that set the standard for the big budget comedies of the past such as the aforementioned John Landis, original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, or the legendary Blake Edwards, etc.Whilst it could have been shorter, funnier and definitely more original, for Jason Statham’s performance as Rick Ford alone, it is well worth watching. However, if you want a true action spy comedy, watch the stunning, ‘True Lies’, or if you want a hilarious (and clean) spy comedy with two stars at the top of their game, watch the classic, ‘Spies Like Us’.

What to do on a rainy afternoon in the UK? Well rent Spy would be our recommendation
What to do in rainy English weather on a Saturday afternoon, my 19 year old son & I thought we'd have a movie afternoon & rented this. So glad that we did, as we laughed our way through from beginning to end. Sadly I find that a lot of the time the trailers for comedy films, contain all the funniest moments and the rest of the film is pants, this is a special exception to that rule. Very much obviously the Bond premise as the plot, I didn't realise Jude Law had the ability to ham it up, I have always felt he takes himself to seriously, but the first laugh was from his humorous "oops I shot you before I should have scene." Melissa McCarthy played her part with her usually talented comedic ways and I am sure that there was a lot of this film that the actors were just allowed to say what came to their heads, as it was so natural. Jason Statham was very good, he played the usual character he plays, but this time, he played it so it was hilarious, especially his last line "is this a lake?" Miranda Hart was an inspired casting as Melissa's stooge and colleague. Remaining calm whilst bats and mice reigned around her.All I could hear from the other sofa, was laugh, laugh, laugh. To captivate a 19 year old lad like this for a couple of hours, to me shows that it is definitely worth renting this film. I know some reviews talk about the plot, but you can read that in the information about the film, you don't need me to tell you. All I can say is rent it, you won't be disappointed if you want a great laugh from start to finish. There isn't many films these days that you can say that about. I would hope that at some point they consider Spy 2, the only concern being would that be as hilarious as this, i'd like to think it would be.
