Product Description Second full-length album from the renowned Danish composer and multi-instrumentalist. 'Mareridt' is a rich juxtaposition of the dark and the light; the moon and the mother earth; the witch and the saint. Myrkur explores deeper into the mysterious and the feminine with eleven tracks that further progress her visionary blend of metal, with gorgeous stirring melodies, dark folk passages, choral arrangements and superb, horrific beauty.

Most pleasantly surprised
This surprised me. I suppose it wasn't what I was expecting, but that in no way disappointed. It is a strange mix of Norse folk and darker, heavier metal sounds. Other reviews detail this wonderful juxtaposition far better than I. Suffice to say The Serpent is worth the cost of the album alone.

More of the Same
Amelie Bruun’s black-metal-meets-Clannad-at-the-edge-of-a-misty-lake-in-the-forest-at-night project Myrkur piqued my interest with their demo a few years ago. This, the band’s second full-length album, continues in much the same musical vein. It’s heavily influenced by Wardruna (a good thing) and less obviously by Bathory (also a good thing). There’s atmosphere in spades, with Bruun’s voice haunting throughout.Favourite track: 'Crown'.

5 stars of doom.
Absolutely incredible from start to finish.I'd say this is a more chilled out experience to "M", with much more doom/dark folk influence rather than full on black metal (though "Mannblot" (sp?) is definitely a fine example of just how well she can do it)

Medieval delight.
Absolute gem. Vocals are simply superb. Haunting, entrancing and melodic. This musical genre is far from my normal fayre, but I can’t stop listening to it. Sabbath meets Evanescence in a Medieval horror of pure delight and musicality. Heavy, yet serene. The Serpent is phenomenal.
