Converts HDMI output to VGA female connector
These days many laptops do not include a VGA port but instead have an HDMI output, so if you need to connect an older monitor you need some kind of adaptor. The TechRise adaptor is very reasonably priced and does the job very well. It's a dongle that connects to a full sized HDMI socket via a short cable and contains a VGA socket like the ones you get on older PC's. The set also includes a short mini-jack to mini-jack cable to connect up audio if your monitor has speakers - and a short USB cable to boost the power to the adaptor if the HDMI port doesn't provide enough. You have to supply a VGA cable to connect the adaptor to the monitor. After connecting the adaptor I found that no signal was getting through at first. After a while I realised that the monitor I needed it for doesn't have full HD resolution. I was able to change the monitor resolution using the Display settings on the computer and after that it works fine.

It does actually work, just do your research!
I used this to connect my (HDMI) laptop to an ancient projector, for a large art project. Contrary to other, more negative reviews, this adapter works perfectly for me.A key piece of info:99% of the time, an adapter will work just as it should (they're incredibly simple, technologically, and cheap to make; manufacturers have little incentive to produce duds, or to scrimp on easily conducted quality control), providing the user knows what they're doing. Often, users blame the adapter when it's in fact a software problem, because they don't know/haven't researched how to set up a smaller resolution or different frequency screen mirror.Just to be on the safe side, I use the adapter with both the USB (power supply) and the audio jack plugged in, to ensure enough power is delivered to the adapter.Bare in mind that this adapter DOES require power, as it's converting a digital (HDMI) signal to analogue (VGA) signal, and has a little circuit board within the plastic housing. As HDMI isn't typically a power delivery medium, you'll need to plug the USB into a device at the same time. The adapter should turn on automatically. With my laptop, only one USB port is designed for sharing information AND power (instead of just information, which the other three are), so this is the only USB port that'll power the adapter - it has a little battery icon next to the usual USB icon that it shares with the other three. I imagine this is a common problem; users plugging their USB power supply into a non-power delivery port - check it's delivering power before giving up!

Works with a Mac
Unlike another product I bought, this one works very well with a Mac. It does need auxilliary power from a USB connector but it works, and that's what counts.

I couldn't get a cable HDMI - VGA so this little adaptor HDMI to VGA fits perfectly.

HDMI to VGA Connecter
I bought this because I made a hasty decision to upgrade my Motherboard bundle, late Saturday afternoon, because I had returned another Motherboard bundle which had malfunctioned. When I got home, having assembled the Bundle, I was faced with the problem that this Motherboard only had DVI-D and HDMI outputs. I needed a VGA output, or pay a kings ransom for a Graphics card.A quick call to the store about my dilemma gave me two options, I could return and buy a £50 converter or go to Amazon and buy this device. I checked Amazon, clicked to order, with next day delivery (Saturday afternoon) and hoped for the best. While I waited for it I found a very old Video card which had DVI-A and S-Video outputs, it also had 128Mb ram (HAHAHA). The computer was up and running, although the screen resolution was at 1024 * 768, or something silly, for a 28 inch monitor.Roll on Sunday afternoon. My package arrives by courier. I unwrap it. Remove Graphics card, connect VGA cable to the Device, using the screws to hold it secure, plugged it into the HDMI output and fired up the computer. Voila! I had my Windows 10 Pro up and running. A couple of clicks and the screen changed to its recommended sizing 1920 * 1080.The moral of this story? If you need a device to convert an HDMI signal to an analogue VGA output, then look no further. This is the device I can wholeheartedly recommend. Also, it is not a high cost product. It is very reasonably priced. I know where to look for future help. This device also comes with an Audio cable and a Micro USB cable to charge low power HDMI devices.Am I happy? Over the moon. Until I can justify upgrading to a HDMI Monitor, this is the baby for me.HDMI to VGA, 1080P with Audio Port, Rankie Gold-Plated Active HDMI HDTV to VGA Adapter Converter Male to Female with Micro USB & 3.5mm Audio Port Cable - R1150

Works, once I'd found how to set it up
I got this working eventually but it didn't work 'out of the box'. I connected it to a Win 10 laptop with a 1920x1080 display. The HDMI convertor worked with duplicate displays, but not when connected to a lower resolution (1280x1024) display. After Googling the problem, it turns out that setting the resolution in the Windows display settings doesn't work. One has to use the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel (an icon in the Windows control panel). The key step is that the 'Scaling' setting defaults to 'Maintain aspect ratio' and this must be changed to 'Maintain display scaling'. It would then work with the external monitor with 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1400x1050 (these are the only ones I tested). Back in Windows display settings I can now select 1280x1024 or 1024x768 but 1400x1050 doesn't work - I have to run the Intel control panel to set that mode. I can't blame the adaptor for shortcomings in Windows, but this would have had more stars if it had instructions which explained how to set it up. Different graphics adaptors may need different solutions.

Ottimo adattatore

HDMI a VGA
Genial, después de un año sigue funcionando correctamente, alguna vez no ha funcionado en macbooks de apple pero en ordenadores fijos y portátiles windows ningún problema. Recomiendo su compra.
