Significant improvement on the predecessor model which it replaced (XAV601BT) in several areas:1. The flimsy detachable front panel is gone.2. There is no fan which had issues on previous models.3. The rather useless CD/DVD drive is goneDownsides:1. Only one USB port on the front panel so you cannot wire a cable to a mount on the dash for your phone or conceal the USB storage.2. The grid in the reversing camera view cannot be removed from the preferences. If the camera supplies a grid as well the result is ugly3. The accompanying Sony media-center like application will always kill any audio from the unit and switch to the app audio instead and there is no preferences on the unit or the app to manage that.4. The media scanning on the USB interface is fairly slow

For a product made my Sony I was a little disappointed.The touch screen feels like tech from the late nineties , easily scratches and the sound quality is pretty inferior compared to my previous (non touch) Sony double din.The reverse camera option is a nice touch but it does cut out the music when you reverse.The Bluetooth set up is simple and it’s a nice easy auto connect when you turn the ignition on.
