Ok but beware IDE users -
As I bought this to have a handy device to access my IDE drives and CD roms I find that the reports of the IDE part not working are perfectly true.I was unable to get one of my many IDE drives to even get recognised they end up going into a clicking mode which is not good. The drives in question all work perfectly when put into an old IDE external case so there is something not good going on with that intereface. When I tried it on a DVD rom it worked only after 3 tries. I wouldn't recognise the DVD until I had turned it on/off for about 3 times. There are plenty devices like this that do SATA and for much cheaper, I bought this as it had all in one so I will be returning it promptly.EDIT update:I've moved this up 2 stars after through no help from Inateck who don't provide any instruction on this and even below tell me to "make sure the jumper is well set".. well set huh ok. I looked on the forums and even there they just tell people to write to tech support providing no help on the forum but it was chap on the forum who advised setting the jumper to CS and when I did this the IDE drives worked.Nothing in the instructions and as my external case works regardless of the jumper setting I didn't think this would be the issue.Secondly, Inateck state to me that DVD drives are not supported because it is clearly in the description and states only IDE and SATA drives are supported.Hang on, in the description let's see:In the title we see : "2.5"/3.5"SATA HDD/SSD & IDE HDD Drives Optical Drive" ... Hmm what's an optical drive I wonder? In the feature list we see: "it is compatible with 2.5"/3.5" IDE/SATA hard drives and 5.25" IDE/SATA CD/DVD drives."It is clear that Inateck haven't got their information straight and their employees don't understand the capabilities of the devices not to mention not being bothered to inform people in their instruction leaflet and in their own forum that it is vital that the jumpers should be "WELL SET". I can't go above 3 stars in this case as I also find that the IDE power cable is finicky and prone to disconnecting at times. This is not good when you are talking about HDDs

Good Rugged Adapter and Welcome Addition of On Off Switch
This is a great little compliment to any IT Guys tool set, its hardy and doesnt break instantly like many of the other available sets and the adapter power cables take a bit of punishment. If has an on / off switch which means that it reduces the risk to 3.5" drives significantly as you can power them down before disconnecting the USB lead meaning they spin down which is a feature missing from many of these kits. The standard cable unlike many of these kits is actually pretty long circa 1 metre which means you dont need to start fabricating things to hold disks in place in weird locations on the top of your PC or server !The instructions were a bit of a miss and I suspect maybe a translated copy however it works perfectly well and it doesnt take a genius to get it plugged in and working. No drivers were required on Windows 7 or 10 and it just worked straight out of the packet. All in its a nice bit of kit and robust so do not hesistate, its worth the money !

Does not work!
I bought this to transfer photos from my old HDD to my new laptop. Quite simply, I have jumped through hoops over the past few days, I have installed the drivers provided, I have updated drivers for my Windows 10 laptop and still it does not show on "My Computer" although all my other USB items do show. Yes, I get the little tune when I switch on the power, no, my external HDD does not show on my laptop. On the software provided, it shows as "Uninitialized" and no amount of searching, installing, uninstalling has altered anything. Oh, and yes, the little blue light comes on! This will be returned to Amazon if I cannot get this to work within the next few days! Sorry, this is a simple little device that should be plug 'n play but it certainly isn't playing!

I have used several makes and types of these over the years as a laptop engineer, read on for my opinions and experience.....
This Inadteck is the totally very best of the bunch compared to the other makes and types available. I have used all-sorts over many years. I bought a different make and type before I bought this one. The problem was that the power supply socket which is inside just did not fit tighly enough and the lead was bent in such a way as to 'pull' the wire out.I bought another make of this sort of thing which was the red coloured docking station type and it was rubbish and would not take my hdd's properly, so that went back, rubbish and too expensive for what it was.I had previously bought an Inateck different product about a year ago and was very pleased with it, for the price, and for the definitely wanted and needed quality. So, I sought out this make when I needed a product like this and have to say that it is of very high quality and does it all, as described. The only reason that I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is that the small white plug from the large white (molex?) plug link cable kept disconnecting the drive here and there unexpectedly and very annoyingly until I found out what was the trouble, and then stretched and partly unbent the wire so that it would not keep coming out of it's socket and disconnect, duh!I say buy.
