If you're happy to trade range for speed...
EDIT: I made some errors in my original review here about the repeater halving the speed of my broadband connection. Please see the replies for the confusion I had when I first installed the repeater. It is now working really well and I've increased the review score.I bought this to replace an old router (with DD-WRT) that I was using to extend my Wi-Fi network up to the second floor of my house. The reception I got up there meant that bandwidth was extremely limited to non-existent. This device has resolved that issue, but while it is plugged in, the total throughput on my wireless network (connected either via the main router or the extender) is halved. I have an 80Mb Internet link, but while the TL-WA855RE is plugged in, it maxes out at 40 or less. Apparently this is to be expected from this type of device, and to do with the two devices broadcasting on the same channel. The solution I'm looking at is probably to buy a wireless AC router (allowing me to use 5G wi-fi which has more channels and less congestion) and using two different channels for the router and extender. This device, incidentally, only extends 2.4G Wi-Fi.The product does work, and I get much more bandwidth upstairs than I did before (applications that didn't work up there before due to lack of reception, now work correctly), even if the total throughput elsewhere is lower, so I'm not in a desperate rush to replace this.

Works welll for the money and easy to set up with WPS
Obviously this unit does not support 802.11ac or MU-MIMO, but it pairs easily with both my Netgear D7000 modem-router (easier in fact than a Netgear EX6150) and my Vodafone R207 (Huawei E5330) MiFi (mobile WiFi) hot spot. Not exactly the fastest range extender but it has a good range and seems quite fast for its spec. The ethernet port works well too, and was so useful when I switched ISP recently as for a day I had no broadband Internet access whilst the switch-over took place and I used this extender paired with the MiFi hotspot to gain Internet access on my desktop PC which does not have WiFi, merely a Gigabit ethernet port.I've been pleased with the unit and would recommend it as a budget WiFi range extender for 2.4gHz connections.

Connectivity issues
I had a lot of hope for this device given the good reviews, unfortunately it wasn't to be.Straight after connecting to my router via WPS I couldn't access the administrator page. I reset it with the little button and then connected by Ethernet directly, now we're talking, I got into administrator settings and programmed it to extend my network, disconnected from Ethernet and let it connect to my wireless router, green light on means it has a good signal and is good to go, again cannot connect to the admin page on my computer but can with the iOS application.Hmmm keep messing with it more and more leave it overnight to see how it goes, in the morning it was intermittently working I would loose internet connection despite it having a green light.I cannot recommend this product, I sent it back to Amazon.

An OK WiFI Repeater
I bought this so I could get a good (or sometimes any) wifi signal on the far side of my house. For the price I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is (even though TP Link products are usually very good). It's so easy to setup that I didn't think it was working at first (I just used the WPS sync button and waited about 30seconds). There is also an app to use which was helpful in me checking that other devices had connected too which helps your sanity. The speed is great and I can actually work in my dining room easily now, and even in the garden (if it's ever sunny). I think my devices actually prefer the extender to the main router (which is also a TP Link one). At some point I will probably get another one so that my house can be bathed in super speedy and reliable wifi!...BUT after a week or so of it running I now find that all my devices struggle for speed on it and images don't seem to load. Switching back to my old WiFi works again but it became so frustrating to do this that I ended up turning it off. Now I'm not sure why I have this issue (and I'm fairly tech wize) so I'm waiting until I can get a powerline ethernet connection to change this into a access point proper (that's wired via ethernet to the powerline) rather than it cloning the main wifi.TL;DRWhen it work's it's great and having wifi on the other side of my house is amazing, however when it stops working or is super slow you will want to throw it out the window!4 stars because I'm sure iI can get it working great, just not fully 100% of the time yet.

good value for money and does what it says with no problems .... for me at least.
yes it certainly works quite well ... extended the wi fi reception outside to the motor caravan where I can use the house wi fi for the laptop and mobile phone. Never personally had any problems I suppose I'm about 50 feet away from the device now and through the caravan walls and house walls typing to you now whereas before the line was very intermittent especially when you needed it. It is however is an extension in it's own right and you can get out of range of this one too but it (your phone or laptop) generally re connects then to the principle router direct.. so if you're Skype or whatever it breaks just whilst you re connect.

Caused main router problem
This device worked as an extender however it caused my main router to fail on internet. So had to use the extender for all traffic, not good. It seems others have had similar problems when I searched online for an answer. Returned for refund.
