Excellent Quality and Design
Yes. It is very firm. I've attached a pic with a cheap foam roller and a homemade one (hard plastic tube with gym mat wrap). Whilst it's certainly firmer than the standard foam roller it's not like the homemade one bcos thats HARD. I would not imagine a reasonable fit person experiencing any problem with the Grid X and certainly not any athletic person. NOT the widest of roller at 33cm so check the width if your massive. Would imagine it may be uncomfortable if your overlapping the ends. ( never experienced/ tryed that???)

AWESOME
This is great. I got the original GRID roller in bright green and love it, but with the increasing muscle mass on my cycling legs, I needed something to reach deeper into the dense muscle fibres. This is just the job. Do not buy this if you are new to foam rolling. If, like me, however, you have used the original model and feel you need to progress, then this is just the thing. It is much, much firmer, and provides the deep massage needed for seasoned pro-level athletes like myself. I wouldn't use this on my IT Band though - I continue to use the standard GRID for that. I use this for my quads and calves. This is an awesome product and it smells fantastic - a real synthetic, rubbery smell that doesn't seem to go away! I love the colour schemes and quality of these products - they really are the best available. Heartily recommended to all and sundry.

Absolutely Brilliant
This is a huge step up from the normal Trigger Point foam rollers.I found the other ones to be really squishy to the point where they weren’t much use on muscles like my calves and hamstrings. The grooves on the normal one are more or less just for show. You can’t really tell which part you’re using. The Grid X on the other hand gives just about enough squishiness to compress it when you really push your thumb into it. It’s very firm. You can really feel the ridges and bumps without it being too hard that it’s sore.I wouldn’t really recommend using it on more sensitive muscles like your lats - stick to the normal squishy ones for that kind of stuff. If you’re finding the normal density foam rollers aren’t really doing the job - this one is for you.If you’re (relatively) new to foam rolling and you’re trying to decide between this and a normal one - I’d probably recommend a normal one. This is nice to have as an extra, but it’s not as versatile as the normal ones in my opinion. You can do more or less every muscle with the softer one, but this is really only for those muscles you feel aren’t been hit enough by the soft ones.

No instructions
I think I might like it. There are no instructions with it so now I have to buy a book... Disappointing

Hard Roller
I've been foam rolling for a couple of years now and needed something harder. I use this in conjunction with a lacrosse ball as a form of self massag.NOW, despite the mis information that you are breaking down scar tissue and adhesions on fascia, there is little science to back this up. Regardless, it works! It forces the muscles to relax and gets blood flowing, providing nutrients and relaxation. You should roll over a sore spot and stay there, roll side to side and also flex the muscle in certain directions. Make sure to take time on a troubled area, as just briefly rolling, while feeling nice, is not as effective.A good way to get into the shoulders is to lie with your upper back on the roller, then hug yourself with your arms, then roll side to side.Another tip is for tight hips, roll up to the bottom of your hip joint and lie on your side. Then flex your knee back and forth to really get in there.Overall a great product, it's robust and the grooves give a different feeling depending on where you roll. It's lightweight and definitely a must have for some one who cannot afford frequent massages.

Takes getting used to
This is a great bit of kit but takes getting used to. If you’re used to a normal foam roller then it’ll probably take a week or so for you to get used to this one.

Great for working out knots in your legs
Not for the faint of heart but this works really well. They also make a fabric coated ball, which is excruciating if used properly. The two together work very effectively. I wouldn't buy this if you are just starting to use rollers - get a foam roller instead. They are meant for beginners but after six months you will need something more effective.

Fantastic for easing out stiff and sore muscles
Fantastic for easing out stiff and sore muscles. After specialist testing at the University of Greenwich (where I'm studying a degree Sports Science), I was told that the muscles in my legs are incredibly tight. Not anymore! I use this quickly after a training session to ease the muscles I've used, and once a week have a session just using this. Don't get me wrong, it does hurt a little, but afterwards, I feel incredible. This product really is quality. I'm a big guy (120kg) and it has absolutely no problem taking my weight. It's a lot harder than I was expecting - but that's a good thing!
