Good overall and a good price. Always buy Netgear!
To be honest, having brought an expensive modem/router before this one which had more feature packed albeit now completely broken, thus sent back to Amazon. I thought this router would not be that good. I am kind of shocked how easy and good this router is. It is so easy to set up although it timed out a couple of times, it got there in the end. The Genie setup works well and the Wi-Fi is not better or worse than any other router. It lacks some of the features other routers have but I have set it up and then let it get on with it, which it has. So after from the 10 minutes setting up I have not touched it and it just works without any problem. It lacks some features but it does have thing like QoS, guest and a few necessary features.Using the genie when you have BT Infinity is easy because Netgear being perhaps the best home router of course knew that after selecting the UK, that BT should be on the list and then loaded all the default settings. Just so you know if you are connecting to BT your login details are same for everyone. You should login with '[email protected]' and then just use 'password', these details are not the the same as any BT email account you might have. So keep them private, BT knows you pay for their broadband so does not really care about router logins. The design is quite nice as well and in the advanced tab you will find more features. Mostly importantly it does provide a stable Wi-Fi and internet connection although I don't get why some router are promoted as having better wi-fi coverage when clearly all the routers I have ever used from bog standard to 'this is the best and fastest wi-fi connection possible' are completely the same unless you are using the ac standard which at the moment no one is. This router is meant to have the 'best' wi-fi but I need to a boost in places where is clearly can't reach. Still within a normal house it should serve you well. A few more features would be nice, then again maybe I am being a bit picky because it does have lots like Port Forwarding / Port Triggering. The only issue, which is not a major one, is that transfer speeds to my NAS are a little bit slower compared to more expensive routers but without in the limits of what I can work with. It can be between 40mb/s if its one file to 8-10 mb/s for multiple files. This is perhaps the only negative I can find.Overall, I think the router is great and unlike many routers made by different companies Netgear still provide supported for this one. Honestly I will only buy Netgear routers from now on because Netgear know what they are doing and they do it right.# Update - this router impresses me, the transfer speeds between computers and NAS is faster now its settled in and it can handle Plex well both within the network and outside. It has not dropped connection and the Wi-Fi is strong (again it had settle in and find the right channel). After setting it up I have not had to do anything, it just does it thing and it does it well. Also the 5th Ethernet port which can be used to plug in a router can also be used as extra connection port. I also like the guest network which means people can access my internet but then I don't have the risk of virus/malware/other things infecting the other devices on the network. It is worth the money and its quite a good looking device. You can also turn off the lights if its in a place where you don't want lights being on or save a little energy. I update the firmware without a problem, it took 2 minutes and unlike the more expensive router that broke, the new firmware did not cause any problems. Its steady and solid. With the house the Wi-Fi lowest speed is around 38mb/s down and 13mb/s up compared to the wired 78mb/s down and 19mb/s up. The other problem I had with the Asus router was interference with other wireless devices, this is not a problem with this router. A great overall modem and router which you can set up and forget!

Excellent Replacement Router.
An excellent replacement for my old Netgear Router. It was easy to set up and my Talktalk account was easily recognised. I am now using the the 5ghz signal for all my devices although I had to purchase two new Netgear Adaptors for my PC's. I am now the only person in my locality using the 5ghz channel, so have no worries about interference. I have only ever used Netgear Routers and have never had any problems. One thing I did do was to re-install Netgear genie on the PC. The signal around my property is now much stronger, so that I have now removed all my mains Adaptors. Update. I have now upgraded to TalkTalk Faster Fibre. The most important point was to Reset the Router back to factory condition. This will save all the bother of what to insert in various boxes. Connect back to the VDSL telephone connection and switch-on. On your Computer enter into your Browser, 192.168.0.1 and then Enter. Just answer the questions Europe and TalkTalk and let it connect you up. The original TalkTalk Router struggled to get over 31 mbps, with much instability on both Download and Upload tests. With this Router connected the Download is now 37 mbps and 2 mbps Upload. Both connections now being stable. I now have once again dual outputs to suit my needs.

Works with Talk Talk - parental controls not working
I bought this to replace the shipped TalkTalk modem/router. Once you plug it in and switch it on your browser gets directed to a username/logon screen. I tried many times to enter my talktalk id/pw but it never worked. I cancelled this set up and logged in as admin to the router. It then asked me which service provider I wanted to set this to, whether I wanted talktalk tv to work etc. No username / password required. Setup took a minute and worked perfectly. I was really disappointed to find that the parental controls required an opendns account - once setup the router could never identify it as a valid opendns user so I don't have parental controls. Apparently I need to open a ticket with opendns (sigh). There is also no simple way of scheduling per device when something will have the internet blocked - so no good for me having young children - I thought I would easily be able to control childrens phone/ps4 internet time - but sadly no. Performance though is very good. Much much better than the shipped talktalk box. Range is very good - probably 50% better than I had before. Speed is a little better (37 mbps) which is ample for a modern home. All in all a good piece of kit, let down by parental controls and bugs associated with them.

Solid performance 100%!!
I absolutely love this router, its a fantastic device that has a multitude of capabilities that I believe I have taken advantage of, set up for this device took little under 20 minutes to achieve internet connection. One of most useful features of this device is its range for WIFI. We have the router at the front of the where the line come in and we can get a strong connection over 25 meters away which extends into the back garden, so bonus! The beamforming + helps with this and dramatically reduces interference from local surrounds. It also eliminates and black spots within the house, we have never had any issues with loosing signal or connection and also receive 3+ bars when out in the garden. I previously had the Netgear router supplied by Virgin media, and I have to say, this router blows that out of the water, we had nothing but trouble with loss of signal, connection dropping, black spots and constant interference from neighbours wireless routers. The D6400 has been up and running for just over a year now with constant use on a daily basis and it has never lost connection, has never needed to be re booted, 100% solid performance!!
