Transmission Impossible

Got the three Cd set so quickly. The music is fantastic. Wish I had got to see this band live. Everyone of them at their peak. Before fame got to them , just playing like their lives depended on it. Put on a disc ,crank up the volume and play and sing along in my head.THE Faces were and are still the best band ever. No kidding. Enjoy.

Sadly, there aren’t nearly enough decent quality live recordings of the Faces in their prime. Whilst the sound quality of these ‘legendary’ radio broadcasts that are being released for a whole range of artists can vary enormously, this one is, on the whole, pretty good. The performances are generally excellent, particularly on discs 1 and 2, but my comments below are on the sound quality of the recordings:Disc 1 – taken from 4 separate broadcasts, the sound quality does vary slightly, most noticeably on tracks 12 to 14 which sound a little ‘distant’. Overall though, the sound quality is really very good, bearing in mind the recordings date from 1970/71. 8/10.Disc 2 – taken from 2 separate broadcasts in 1971, the quality is slightly below those on disc 1, being a little more distant and hissy in places. Still, overall, pretty good for their age. 7/10.Disc 3 – taken from a single broadcast, the sound quality on this one is noticeably lower than discs 1 and 2. It sounds like it was recorded a long way from the stage, and the instruments are generally less well defined; it all sounds a bit muddy compared to the earlier recordings. 4/10.

Considering the period this was recorded the sound quality is good it does vary a bit but I would say overall it is oknot bad at all

The Faces in their pomp. Three great CDs. Excellent sound quality to my ears. A very minor disappointment for me was the absence of their best version of Love in Vain recorded at the Paris Theatre in 1972 and which I have only ever heard on Killer Highlights 1972 - 1973.

Loved listening to this cd. Took me back in time

Several tracks are repeated and the third cd is made up mostly of the coast to coast overtures and beginners album which I already had!
