Too many restaurants these days are getting rid of individually wrapped straws and going with bull boxes of 500 or 1000 straws with no wrappers. The servers, who are touching pens and money and plates and tables and who know what else, are reaching into this boxes and retrieving a straw for your drink. They can’t extract one straw without touching other straws; therefore, you have multiple servers over multiple hours or days, potentially touching your straw, which then goes into your drink and/or your mouth. With the number of viruses and the nasty strain of flu going around this year, I find that unacceptable. So I got these straws. I bring my own straw into the restaurants I know don’t carry individually wrapped straws. These straws are tall and wide, so they work in any glass or drink you’re likely to order. They’re individually wrapped in plastic, so they stay dry and sanitary, (paper wrappers are porous and if they get wet, transfer whatever is on whatever they touch directly to the straw). I’ve tried other plastic wrapped straws and so far, these are my favorite! And in a pack of 500, I’m able to bring straws along for friends I’m dining with. Some who had originally looked at me in confusion when I brought my own straw have since started bringing their own straws. Servers have told me they do the same thing because, as servers, they KNOW what the unwrapped straws are exposed to prior to going in their drinks. I highly recommend these straws.The only thing is that the description states these straws are “red”. They’re not. They are orange. Not a shade of red. Orange. I’m not the only one that has said that. But frankly, I don’t care what color they are. These are good quality straws that I will order again. You should know, though, that you likely won’t be getting red straws when you order these. So if color is important to you, keep that in mind.
