I sew a lot and I am always dropping straight pins and I would have to get down on my hands and knees to look for them. This extends out and now I just run it along the floor and the magnets works like magic.

This is the kind of thing you don't realize how much you needed until you have it. I have learned to always magnetically sweep the area after i do any project that involves screws or nails. Many times I had forgotten that one (or more) dropped and they are waiting to cause trouble to us or my dogs.This has a strong magnet that does a good job of picking up the dropped or out of reach metallic items. It does extend enough that I can sweep the ground while standing. I have not tried it under water yet as our lake is frozen, but I have found these things are great when putting the dock together or attaching new cleats, etc. (I drop a LOT of screws and really don't want them where people will step barefooted).I had one that had a lever to release the picked-up items. This does not do that, but it is not that difficult to pick the stuff off. I mainly used that when I dropped a whole box of screws and used a magnet to retrieve them.This is a good product and expect it to last many years.

Bought this for future needs, like when my wife drops her keys behind the freezer again (long story) Very well built, nice reach range, strong magnet. This is one of those tools you won't use often, but when the need arises its ugly head, you will really be glad you bought this. Highly recommended 👍

This is a good magnet for someone that always drops screws! It is very strong. I just wish the handle extended another two feet or so.

Flooding piled huge trees against, and destroyed the wooden bridge spanning the creek on our property. As the debris was chopped apart, huge nails and large bolts were buried in the dirt as the trunks, tree limbs and beams were dragged by tractor to a nearby burn pile. This tool worked easily to pickup metal in the sandy creek, the weedy drag tracks and the burn pile. Digging a bit in the sand, dirt, ashes yielded a bounty of nails! The extension handle is firmly rubberized, twist lock holds in place where you set it, and the magnet is strong. Summary: great value, useful tool, vendor provided good packaging and fast delivery.

I lost two very small screws in the pile of a thick carpet. I was able to recover one of them with a small magnet, but the other had to wait for this tool. Took no more than five minutes. Paid for itself on the first use in the sense that the screw is not cataloged and therefore difficult to match.

The magnet is strong which is great.The adjustable handle and the moving head of the magnet are nice features. However, the circumference of the magnet is small, and this makes it bothersome to scan larger areas.
