Corduroy's Day

This was one of my first books as a kid and I bought it because I think I lost the original. The book, which arrived in great condition, is a larger format than the one I had, and shiny and new, but it stilll has beautiful art that reminds me a lot of my childhood. It's much more than a counting book, really, especially if you're into illustration, art, cartoons, or sequential art storytelling as techniques from all these disciplines are used with aplomb in this little book. As a kid I could always tell a good kid's book from an okay or "eh" one that didn't do all the little things in regards to ambience, color theory, and charm. Corduroy will win over anyone's kid with his fun-filled day, which starts with eating bread with honey and ends after he picks some flowers, feeds some ducks, has a picnic, etc. I repeat, this is not an ordinary mass-market counting book, this is a high quality board book for kids (and anyone who loves cute illustration-filled books or is studying them at art school). Mine also states that sale of the book contributes some money to a foundation that researches cancers that affect children, which obviously doesn't count if you buy it used, but if you're getting it used, someone bought it anyway right? And it's better to buy used books for the planet, etc.

As always this is a cute, simply written book for Corduroy fans. It is a board book, with few words on each page so it is a good story to read to older toddlers who don't want to sit still for long. I bought it for my 18 month old granddaughter,.

Since this was one of our kid's favorites, I always buy it for baby showers I"m invited to. Amazon is great, comes fast and in great condition!!!

This is a good book to be reading to the really young ones (under 3 years old). It is very colorful and cute. The children really enjoy looking at the book and counting along. I bought it a little bit too late for my son (though he loved the other Corduroy books) but I co-own a day-care and the other children just love this book. And since it is a board-book, it can withstand the abuse young children tend do dish out to books.A word of advice, don't buy this book used. The proceeds from the sale of this book go to help cancer children.

If you are a parent or grandparent, get the Corduroy series for your kidsto learn to read and understand life. I can still remember how my middleson loved his Corduroy books and carried them everywhere he went.Must be a good thing, he is a surgeon now! You can't go wrong!
