Unusual WWII History But Watch the Reader's Age
I really like WWII history and I learned a bit from this book. Despite the complexity of the subject it's told in a humorous and easy to read way. It is probably written with a young teen audience in mind. I got this for an 8 year boy who can read like a whip and likes war stuff but I couldn't really give this to him. There is way too many interesting stories about massacres and concentration camp deaths. Several stories about animals being killed. There are stories about suicide, even to the point of using dogs as test animals for suicide drugs (as in the case of Blondi, Hitler's dog). Don't get me wrong, there's allsorts of other interesting WWII items that are fun to read about but for young readers this book may open up more for you then just a kid quietly reading in the living room.

Very interesting book for the teen age boys in our life. They are fascinated with the details of history and oh by the way they actually learn history from this book. There are many books in this series all of them are very helpful to encouraging reading by teenage men.

great book! I'd recommend it to all
as it's said people is horrible as they used to be.we must know the history to avoid it to be repeated again!

The horrors of WW II described in a humorous way. I wonder why we don't use such books at school?

Woeful second world war ( WWII)
I think Terry Deary books are absoulutely brilliant no spell-binding superb! I have grown so interested in this book that i read it in one day . But their is one problem that annoys me .This book is more about the Nazis .It doesnt annoy me too much but i wish that their would be more of the allies also it frightened me that u r saying their will be a world war 3 !Then i realised that you were joking .I think this book should be for 8 -12 years! Thank you Terry for bringing such a wonderful book into the world! Also can u make a new book or episode on Horrible Histories about 1970s to 1990s? Thank you !#HORRIBLE HISTORIES RULE!!!

Bought it after recommendation
Grandson started reading it as soon as it arrived and finished it in a couple of days. Was reluctant to buy after seeing it on tv, but then read another review above from a junior school teacher who ordered it for his class, so figured it was ok.So glad I did.Working through the rest of the Horrible History titles now! What a fantastic way to get kids interested in history!

Not a patch on the Tudors
Still very entertaining and interesting. It gives an idea of what it must have been like to live through WW2 on the Home Front, but not as educational as other Titles in the series, eg Terrible Tudors (which is brilliant). There is nothing about the battles or the various campaigns (probably because these would not be suitable for a humorous treatment) and it focusses on life in Britain (rationing, evacuation etc). Still a very enjoyable CD, entertaining for whole family.
