This is solid construction, heavy duty metal, straps and anchor hooks. I had to fasten the hooks to the clothes handles in the rear side of the car; they seem to be gripping the straps strongly. I'll be doing my morning commute to work on the Miami I-95 Downtown area carrying my "Old Glory" mounted on the roof of my car. 2020-0703 Update: This flag mount has been tested in highway speed up to 60 mph. The end of the straps started to flap down on the roof of my vehicle to the point I had to get off the highway to make sure nothing had let loose. Everything was good. We took care of the noise by securing the end of the straps with coated heavy duty paper clips. Yeap, paper clips in the red color. That did it. I get lots of car honks, thumbs up and even salutes as I drive my beloved Old Glory down the road. One more thing though, I had to add an additional strap down to the lower flag clip to prevent it from riding the flag up. I want my flag to ride horizontally in the wind, not scrunched up. Anything this flag mount falls short of, we have managed to make it work at very little extra cost, like extra large coated paper clips. I'm happy I got this. UPDATE: I switched the flag that came with this mount for an embroidered starred, stitched 2x3 as the instructions read the pole is designed for. I encountered problems driving within residential speed limit of 35 to 40 mph, the bottom flag hook gave up and the bigger flag was only being held by the top hook. No big deal, I went to home depot and got both tie wraps and better hooks. I replaced both hooks and I was ready for the highway with a bigger flag. Another problem surfaced, the eyelet where the flag hook loops through, broke and yet again, the flag was being held by only one rotating ring. I had to come to a safe spot to dismount the flag. I'm disappointed, this is a materials failure and a big one. I don't know how to contact the seller for a solution. Please help!

Purchased this flag holder to use for parades only. Easy to assemble, sturdy & parts fit together well. I attached it to the trunk on my Thunderbird convertible, and hooked the straps to the edges of the cabin and trunk lid. The strap ends are covered in soft plastic to prevent scratching, and have a gentle curve that work on many different edge surfaces (I used small pieces of upholstery foam when attaching, to prevent chipping but I probably didn't need them). Suctions cups held well considering how much wax is on my car. I was able to use a 3' x 5' cotton flag - and it looked great! Folding option helps to stow the holder in my car's tiny trunk. Many comments on the flag & the light! I wouldn't use it at high speeds, mostly because I baby the car - but for local, low speed driving it works perfectly and looks amazing.

I had an issue getting all of the suctions cups to stick. If you have an older vehicle, be aware of your weather seals may leak. I left the flag and assembly on the truck overnight, and in the morning, both seats were soaked from the rain dripping through the window seals. The flag looked great, as I participated in the July 4th parade in my hometown.

Bought for my Mustang for the 2017 Rapid City Festival of Lights parade, installed on trunk and it worked great. I consider this more of an ornamental item as opposed to something used every day, though it didn't handle 40MPH to and from the parade without issue. Pole is easy to adjust -- I angled it back for higher speeds and had no problems. LED light is wonderfully bright, and was even bright enough to light up the Air Force dignitaries I carried in the parade. Not sure how this would hold up to daily use, but to me, this is way too nice of a rig to use every day. I'll use it for future parades, car shows, holidays...can't wait for July 4th. Very happy with this flag.

I love the flagpole system idea. And for the most part it was everything I'd hoped for. That is, until I tried to tighten the twist lock pole. It twists freely without ever locking in place in either direction. Then my real problem began. As instructed, I contacted the seller and they told me I could return it, but, they wouldn't replace it. I would have to reorder off of Amazon again. When I went to do that I discovered the price had gone up $10.00. So, I kept the pole, drilled a hole in it and put a self threading sheet metal screw in it. Oh, by the way, the grommets on the cheap flag that came with it tore out when we reached 40 miles per hour.

Originally I installed with the suction cups and straps, but as you can see in the picture I had it on top of a diamond plated tool box so the suction cups did not work. The straps on the other had worked very well and I was able to drive up to 45 mph. But I felt the need to permanently install to the box with bolts and now it withstands 80 +. I am sure that if you were to install on a smooth surface that it would work as designed.

Would be perfect for Large Vehicles and such, but flag interferes and sometimes shakes my smaller car, and has me concerned because of the fact that the suction cups do not stick whatsoever, causing the straps being the only ones to hold the thing stable. I recommend ONLY IF YOUR ROOFTOP IS TOTALLY FLAT FOR THE SUCTION CUPS!!!!

I LOVE this! I'm a huge college football fan and thought this would be a cool way to stand out when tailgating. Had it on my car at the game last week and lit up with a 2x3 flag I put on there. The reaction was incredible. People kept coming up to me asking where I got it and I really stood out. It can be viewed from quite a distance away and was real easy to mount and unmount. I kind of wish it went taller than the approx 4 feet but it was plenty.
