Ka Lei Haaheo: Beginning Hawaiian (Teacher's Guide and Answer Key) Paperback – March 1, 1992

I bought both books, for my self study, and I canʻt rave enough about how brilliant I think this is! It is so amazing to have a book, as an older adult, as an answer key! Iʻm learning as a part of the process of mending the broken line of ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (my grandfather and his brothers and sisters were the last native speaker that I know of in our family) in our ʻohana. I am in California, and it isnʻt like there is a vibrant community of native speakers open to outsiders at this point, to go and live and be with to learn, so having a book, and a teachers guide, for me, is essential for me to have to reach my goal. So grateful.

I was not sure if this was the correct book (teachers guide and answer key) because it looks the same as the workbook in the picture. This IS the correct book and its wonderful. Having the answers to check your work is simply genius. How come the others do not have this; I do not know. Nice simple easy format too. 5 stars!!!!!

I needed the regular workbook book for a college class and I bought this one so that when I practice alone I have something to refer to when checking my answers.

Outstanding workbook! I recommend purchasing the teachers version as a compliment to this book. Together, they really help to teach the language and more importantly, how to put together sentence structure. I would caution anyone who is not a "self-taught" student, this may not be a good place to begin your studies... But, if you are focused or have basic knowledge of the Hawaiian language, it is phenomenal! Mahalo nui!

Class required book

Fairly well organized and pragmatic with ample samples. But the breadth of the topic is possibly too much to cover in one publication. Would suggest two books and more samples.

This is a most useful companion to the main volume. In the absence of a teacher, which is best, of course, it's a good way to self-check one's answers to exercises. I love the cultural tips throughtout the book!

Finally, a way to see if a student has answered the questions posed in the book correctly. Hawaiian language books rarely have a teachers guide and this is great. A must if you are teaching or learning Hawaiian on your own.

Especially when one learns Hawaiian at home - remotely from Hawaii, this really helps to check the home work result as there is no teacher nearby.
