Based on the idea that it's not what a picture looks like but what it feels like that makes it good, this is a book that manages to be both practical and inspiring. Organised around six key ideas (Shoot the Moment; See the Light; Feel the Rhythm, and so on), it forces readers to see, not just shoot - and it will do it by walking them through the ideas, the techniques and then the projects, all laid out in graphic, beautiful, instructive way: Read about the technique, see it in practice in one of Lange's photos, and then learn how to replicate it yourself. Underneath it all lies Lange's real message: 'The more you appreciate how special each moment is, and see how you can capture its meaning and its mysteries, the better your pictures will be. The moment you appreciate how special it is that you're all together on the beach, or at a two-year-olds birthday party, or that light is pouring through your bedroom onto the bed where your wife is resting is the point at which your photograph becomes a testament to your way of seeing the world'. Review: Getting back to what makes photographs pleasing and photography fun! - I purchased this book twice - once of myself and once as a gift for a young family member. I read this entire book and still refer back to it often as my skills improve. I particularly like the friendly, engaging tone of the author. He is less about "must have" gear and more about creating photographs with whatever gear you have. He taught me how to look for pictures in any situation and gave simple, practical information to improve the quality of each picture. He demystifies photography - he assumes you do not have an extensive background, yet he imparts knowledge while pulling your skills forward. Plenty of pictures show you exactly what he is teaching. This book reminds you to be creative and have fun. It is easy to understand on your own level. You can absorb the more technical information, or just focus on the simple, straightforward lessons. I was confident purchasing this book for a 13 year old beginner who uses the family's point and shoot camera. I knew she would enjoy the short lessons and fun attitude. And, he is not above taking pictures that are trendy and fun for a younger generation of photography enthusiasts! Review: Cada dica melhor que a outra. - Ótimo livro! Estou adorando cada dica!! Textos curtos e bem explicativos. Dicas simples e parte técnica explicada sem complicação. Recomendo!!!

One of the best photography books
If you want to step beyond taking the same shot of your family & friends with fixed grins with different backgrounds this is the book for you. One of the best photography books I have read, not too heavy on the technical side but with enough detail to get a good understanding of the parameters of digital photography & the role of aperture & shutter speed in composing a picture. If you want have fun with your camera & subjects & produce great shots there are plenty of examples to get you started... thoroughly recommended!
