2 (two) year update on performance, 2007 Scion tC hatch
UPDATE: 1/17/23:Nearly 2 years, are leaking, starting to resist lifting my hatch. They require help in these colder months, to lift the hatch entirely to it's fully upright position. Even though they are leaking, dust is collecting on the oils, they are starting to sound dry, they are still working. I will resist purchasing another set for now. Once again, however, I will give credit where it is due. They might be leaking, but they are still working. Who am I kidding, I'm going to purchase another set because I much prefer to have to work at lifting my hatch. That's what these were suppose to do!UPDATE 1/24/22:I have included photos now. Of both of the struts in their current state and the actual spoiler that was installed by the factory on my car. The struts are failing now, and leaking. I will be needing more very soon, but I guess I got my use out of them for the price I paid.I have a 2007 Scion tC, and made sure to check these would fit my make and model. Since it checked out, I ordered. I got my new struts and then took only one strut off to make sure *just in case*. I measured it against the new strut, and all seemed okay, until I attempted to install the new strut. Turned out they are slightly longer. I had to push up on my hatch to get it to snap in. Kinda hard to do alone, but I managed it by myself. One problem with these new struts happens when I open my hatch. They seem to have a problem with helping the hatch lift during the first few inches. The entire weight of the hatch isn't being lift at first. But when I keep lifting, there is a point at which the new struts seem to realize they need to help me out, and will "kick in". But after that, they work great in keeping the hatch from slamming upwards (my old struts were allowing the hatch to just bounce up. Which I don't think is suppose to happen. It still does it now and again, but only one bounce. However, it's still an improvement! I've purchased struts for another car from this company before, and they installed perfectly and easily. But for some reason, these seemed to be just a touch longer and required that extra push to get my hatch to fit. No, you cannot and should not think you can, compress the struts to fit. If you can, you have a bad strut.EDITED ON MARCH 30, 2021:I contacted Vepagoo about the lift problem. In one sentence I was asked if I had a spoiler, and then told they are not strong enough to lift if I had one. Well I happen to have one. I tried to explain they will lift the gate just fine, but only after that initial attempt to open my hatch fails. It acts like it's too heavy at first but afterward there is no problem with it. This is just not worth the hassle. The old struts didn't do that, even though they were getting weak, they still seemed to have no issue after sitting for hours on end of non-use.

A tad stronger than expected
After installing this, I will say they are much stronger than I expected at lifting the hatch on my TC. I have to make sure to put my hand on top of the trunk so that it doesn't shoot up so hard. If they end up failing, it may be because they have shot up too hard too many times. As far as quality, they seem fine. They're a big smaller than stock, so only time will tell how long they last.Installing, they were more difficult to get to the clip than the stock ones. You need a smaller screwdriver to get into the back of the clip to pull it back.Note: For Scion TC (1st gen) you do NOT need to remove the bolts on the bottom of the strut to remove old and install new struts. You just need to twist slighly.Use the opportunity to clean out all the dirt and leaves from the areas. Also, make sure you have something strong holdint up the trunk. I used a 2x6 and installed on my own, but the board gell and scraped my bumper when I had to lift the trunk higher to connect the strut. So make sure you take extra precautions.

Easy install, dont let u-clips frustrate you
I watched a DIY video on replacing these & it seemed very simple. Most videos will tell you to pull the U-clip up with a flathead screwdriver, but absolutely nothing will fit under the tight space to pull the clip up. Everything I had read was emphasizing how important it was to NOT damage that clip. So after some gentle but firm pressure, the struts snapped right into place without having to pull up those clips because I gave up trying to lift them. I just made sure the U-clips were in their right spots before I closed my trunk. As a side note, these are really strong! At first I though I put them on wrong bc it took quite a bit of pressure to close the trunk, BUT I WAS NOT COMPLAINING!!! I've had these put on for about 2 weeks now & they work phenomenally. As an even more interesting side note, I called the Scion dealership after i had installed these myself just to see how much money I saved... first they said there weren't any parts available inside the country, secondly, he said there were 60 back orders to fulfill for that part, & after it was all said & done he said it'd be $265-$275!!I'd say I got the better end of the stick after paying $22, receiving them in about 3 days, & taking 5 minutes for install!Highly recommend & will update after a few months of consistent use...

Great Stuts...or should I say Strut?
I got the Vepagoo stuts and was excited to put them on. After doing this, they did not work at all. I was not happy. So I removed them and put the old ones back on....they were not totally gone, just persnickety. After putting them on, i looked at the 2 Vepagoo struts and I noticed one of the two struts did not work at all. I could press in the thinner cylinder into the thicker one without the slightly bit of pressure. The other, however, was rock solid and I could not budge it. So I removed one of the old ones back off the car and put the one GOOD Vepagoo strut on. This worked very well. How much better it would have been if i got two working struts, but the one working one....very nice. I could tell I had one new strut on as the it was much easier for the lift gate to spring up. I would recommend these stuts, but it is a shame that a completely useless strut got mixed in with the working ones.Just to UPDATE: Vepagoo gladly offered to send me the replacement struts so that I can replace the one strut that came defective. THAT is customer service and THAT is what makes me a return customer. I gave them a 4 star rating only because one strut came defective, the other strut worked perfectly and now with both struts working perfectly, I can give this product a 5 star rating it deserves. 5 stars for customer satisfaction too! Thanks Vepagoo.
