First, I am a cardiologist and have handled actual adult human hearts. I was looking for a heart model to use for demonstration and teaching purposes. It advertised "life-sized 7.5 x 4.7 x 4.7" " on the description, which was the only reason I went with this one. On arrival, I discovered that those dimensions really meant the size of the plastic base, and the actual heart was only 5 x 2.5 x 2" (including the aortic arch). Maybe this is life-sized for a 5 year old kid? The detail is great, shipping was really fast, but I felt really deceived by the product description.

I chose this over the other models because it's not $7,000 and is does a very nice job depicting the major and minor structures of the heart. The coronary arteries are a bit off, but if you follow along with a textbook, you can use your imagination. It does a VERY good job depicting the difference between the walls of the atria and ventricles and includes atrial appendages. IV leaflets and CT are also nicely shown. I use it to study not only the anatomy but understanding the planes and positioning in echocardiography.

Based on the reviews I had read here I felt i was really gambling with this order but I am very happy with it. The size of the model heart is slightly larger than a man's clenched fist. For individual use it's just right. If you are going to hold it up to show a classroom of people it would be a little small.It is made from a flexible material, just like the ones in the doctors office. In addition to the actual heart structure, about 2" of aorta, pulmonary artery and superior vena cava extend from the top of the model.The exterior surface has molded-in detail (coronary arteries etc.) which are also painted. The model without stand weighs just shy of half a pound. The removable cover is detailed on the inside as well as the outside. The cover has a built in steel alignment pin which holds it in place.It comes with a sturdy plastic stand for display purposes.The only minor negative that I have found is with the documentation. There is a booklet with full color illustrations of the model and each part has a lettered call-out. That letter corresponds to another page containing a key, listing the names of the parts of the heart. While this may be a useful testing tool, I found it inconvenient to flip back and forth from illustration to the key while I was learning the parts. I actually wrote in the names on the illustration to make it easier.

This was purchased for the anatomy and zoology labs. It is a good instructional tool for students. It is well built and students can easily take apart and study from it. Arrived in good condition and on time.

I use the heart to study for my anatomy class. The heart is accurate and helpful to have at home our school actually has the same heart at school to practice on, so it must be anatomically correct. The tricuspid valve and bicuspid valve aka mitral are made of paper. The stand is sturdy holds the heart in place when you don't want to hold it directly.

A little smaller that I expected, probably about the size of a child's heart. The metal pole you see holding up the heart can be removed and used to create a different display piece, as I did. The front comes off to display the inside. Beautifully painted and detailed. I got it for his graduation from Perfusion school (deals with heart and lungs) and he absolutely loved it.

Interior valves are made of paper & string and only adhered in one little spot. I wouldn't trust this to pass around the classroom or to let little ones touch it. The valves won't last very long.

No no no. I knew it was not going to be the best model, but I didn't expect the valve leaflets to be made from thin paper.

I got this for my 14yr old neice's graduation. Its the perfect size and good quality. She wants to be a doctor and I thought this would be a great gift. Its the size of a clenched fist. Opens up and has a little magnet so when you close it stays. Very smart.
