Scratches that Classic Rock Itch
Sometimes you get that itch for a classic rock tone--one with those biting mids and chimey highs. One that really amplifies the pick attack and makes you think of those golden eras when classic rock ruled the world. This pedal does that. Set everything at noon (except, maybe turn the volume down) and you have that sound. There are options, but you can set it and forget it. It's that sound in your head, and it's glorious. For many, the holy grail of this tone is old marshalls. These are cool. But these are expensive and loud, and quite frankly, do not give you that sound unless you really crank them. I play in the basement. My family puts up with me. This gets me close and I love it!

This plugged into my 1967 vibrolux is just what I've been looking for.
Killer classic tones.

Sound is muffled like it's going through a sock.
I really wanted to like this pedal, and bought it because I love the 'modeled' DIrty Shirley on my Axe FX II.I knew going in that it wouldn't have a ton of gain, but I don't play metal, and my favorite pedals are the Blues Driver 2 (Boss BD-2 with Keeley Mod), Tube Screamer, and Analogman's King of Tone.Compared to those, this pedal sounds like it's being muffled by a sweat sock. I tried every knob configuration possible, and tried it with all my guitars, but after 3 or 4 days, I finally decided that I just don't like it at all. It's too mushy and muffled, even at the highest gain setting. It's very much like turning the tone knob all the way down on your guitar, and then boosting it. It's just dull sounding. But I still gave it 3 stars, because I've never played an actual Dirty Shirley amp, and maybe this is the sound some people are going for? But for me, it's really no comparison to my favorite pedals, so back it goes. It's unfortunate, but it might have even saved me a lot of money, because I'm no longer very interested in buying a Friedman amp. ;)

10 out of 10 could get it
Sounds dope. Have run it through both Marshall's, fenders, with strats, Paul's, teles and sgs. Really like this thing. Would recommend .

Great quality!
Easily the best pedal I own. This is high quality and it sounds fantastic. Has a very decent amount of gain. Not as much as the BEOD, but enough for what I needed in my rig to play hard rock. I’ve recorded straight with it into my DAW (bypassing an amp) and it sounded good. Would probably sound best paired with a clean tube amp, which I don’t have. Sounded great on the clean channel of my solid state Marshall. Recommended for great warm hard rock sounds.

Poor touch sensitivity
The sound of the pedal itself is pretty good and the controls allow for a lot of fine tuning. Ultimately, I wouldn’t recommend this pedal because the touch sensitivity is awful. I tried having nothing else in the chain except the pedal and amp, and tried two different guitars. If you roll down the volume or pick lightly you get the same amount of gain, just quieter. The touch sensitivity is so important to the sound it is going for, it’s hard to recommend this pedal. I’d pass.

Good marketing
Tried it out with my EVH 5150 111 head. It does not have a transparent sound. Hard to hear the notes clearly in a chord even using the clean channel of the amp.. 6 out of ten score. Lead tones are ok, 7 out of ten score. Spent a good 40 min trying to get a good high quality- pro sound out of all the knobs. No go, waste of time, but I tried hard. Good marketing can sell anything.

Love it, if you're looking for the amp's sound
Love it , if you're looking for the amp's sound , go and watch YouTube videos and notice how close it can get . If you are not , you'll have a really cool distortion with its own character .
