Small, compact and get's the job done. I use this for location surveys in the film industry. I've read some conflicting reviews about it's accuracy. The first week I had the unit I would measure everything twice to make sure I was getting real data, it's been pretty spot on. I'm guessing user error would be to blame in other people's reviews. There ARE better devices on the market, if you are trying to launch a rocket, drill for diamonds or need measurements smaller than an inch, get a bigger wheel and spend more money.

I love this measuring wheel. It's small, fits in a satchel and is very light. I use it to measure very large spaces (.5 million square feet) both indoor and outside.The Good: It's small, compact, and easy to carry. It extends out to use without stooping and it makes measuring large or non-linear areas easy.The Bad: The telescoping mechanism is fragile, and if you press too hard on it it will fold up and break fairly easily. It's not made of glass, but it is better for the occasional user, not the daily grinder.The Verdict: It's a great tool to have and when you need it, you are really glad you have it.

I use measuring wheels to conduct estimates for removable pool fencing. Ideally used on concrete/paver surfaces. A bigger wheel is better when used on grass/dirt/rocks/etc. It's nice that you can roll the wheel back and the measuring wheel rolls back the feet/inches. A nice touch if you need to change the path of the project. It's lightweight and folds up nicely.

Inexpensive and very accurate. I measured a network cable installation job with this and was accurate to the foot. This was critical because it meant the difference between not being sure and having to buy another 1000 foot spool of cable or just the 2000 I needed for the 1950 feet I actually needed, figuring in for scrap as well. I had no issues with this measuring tool.

This is a cheaper, less bulky version of the surveryor's tool (also realtor's and track coach's). I am a rehabbing paraplegic; I measure the crutch walks I go on in the neighborhood. This is accurate to the foot, so I can get even slight improvements of distance or speed very accurately. That helps motivate me. I do the walking then go out again on my electric scooter with the measuring wheel to get my exact distance covered.

I bought this as a gift for an appraiser several years ago. It has seen miles and miles of interiors along with some exterior building perimeter use-- all without fail. It's not for measuring cattle pastures or construction sites, but for the residential use I mentioned, it's perfect. It's very lightweight and the telescopic handle allows the unit to have a very compact footprint for easy transport and storage.
