Good Optics, Not Hands Free
pretty, but the bottom is flat. the magnified area is even all the way across. I had hoped, however, that the metal rim would have lifted it slightly above the surface so that could be used hands free. It cannot be used hands free. not to be used to examine SD objects, unless you want to hold it, or rig up a stand of some type.

I like this tool and it works very well, I had purchased the larger one because I spend a lot of time studying blueprints and construction drawings, I may just order the larger one anyhow.

IF WEIGHT is a factor, glass vs acrylic
This is a GREAT magnifier, but, it's heavy. My 89 yr old Mother uses a acrylic dome mag to read books. But she only has one. So we bought the 6x and 10x glass magnifiers. Never considered the weight. These are more for desk top use, as they are heavy. 1/4 lb. for the small 6x, more for the 10x, and very slippery. In her frail state, he found the 6x to heavy to hold, and it kept falling out of hand. Acrylic is what we are ordering now.
