Pinguicula of Latin America Hardcover – March 8, 2016

I loved the photos in this book.

This is the second volume of an excellent reference book on the carnivorous plant genus Pinguicula. I already wrote a review for Volume I: Pinguicula of the Temperate North. As I mentioned there, many wonderful pictures are included throughout the two volumes. In the natural history books in general, the quality of photographs is continuously improving in recent years.In this volume II, as I went through many colorful pages, I would like to pick one image which, in my opinion, is reaching the level of "National Geographic" photography -- in terms of its artistic creativity as well as its scientific value (botanical contents). The winner is: the image on page 607 (Figure 2.287) depicting the growth habit of P. mesophytica, shot by Fernando Rivadavia.

An excellent practical yet scholarly guide which includes recently discovered species. Generally photos are of a high standard as is the book itself. This would be a valuable addition to any library on carnivorous plants.
