I bought this razor after reading the positive reviews. It replaces my Edwin Jagger that I broke. The more expensive names have nothing on Pearl as far as quality goes. This is a beautiful and well-made razor. I only shave evry other day and that's just to clean up my beard edges so I needed a razor that won't load up. This one does not load up at all. Open comb razors have a reputation for nicks but I had no problems with such on my first use. That being said, you might want to start out with the supplied blades. They are at best only moderately sharp and will be good to learn with before moving up to an ultra-sharp blade like a Feather or Astra.

Pearl razorFor anyone wanting to try an open-comb razor, this is a good one to get. You’ll be amazed at the quality of this 3-piece brass razor, considering the price. It is the size of the popular Merkur 34C, smaller than most, but absolutely no problem whatsoever. The attention to detail is stunning. It looks better than the photos. The handle is not black and the logo is on the bottom of the handle, not on the top-cap. The unique knurling is very distinctive and provides a sure, firm grip. I don’t like slick handles on razors! It has good weight and balance. The blade is fully enclosed. It comes with a pack of razors and a polishing cloth.Now for performance…I used Razorock shave soap and an Astra blade (both from Amazon). There is more blade feel than with a closed comb razor, and the result is a bit more aggressive shave. Some reviewers call this a mild razor, perhaps compared to other open comb razors. I got a lot of “feedback” after using alum block, another indication of an aggressive shave. I normally don’t get such stinging when using an Astra in other razors. So this is not for beginners, but it is still a very good razor provided you use a light touch.

It is aggressive but with a mild blade, it gives a great close shave.

For starters she's a looker! I love the style of this handle, it's a real eye catcher and seems to sparkle. The branding on the end of the handle is a nice look and placement. I love the head on this the open comb leaves alot of sickness and the end cap smooth as glass just glides over your face! The blade has a bit of play when putting it in so make sure your blade is properly aligned before tightening her down. The handle has a really nice weight and the design provides a great no slip grip, perfectly balanced when the head is on. Making shaving with this thing a dream just a light grip and let the razor do all the work for you! If you're thinking about pulling the trigger on this.....well, what are you waiting for?!?! Pull it!!!

{Please note this razor was sent to me free of charge for review purposes which in no way changes my review}I have to start that im a moderately experienced wet shaver, owning anything from de razors, SE to injector, gem and slants. I'm also a novice in using shavettes.With that said who do i think this is for? If you have thick or wire like facial hair and normal to slightly sensitive skin and like or require a more efficient razor without the harsh irritation of aggressive razors this is for you.The design of the razor is nothing special to be honest. If you have seen or used anything like the edwin jagger de 89 or razorock mission mentor or similar razors this just another common copy of that without the crappy results of the de89. In my opinion what changes this from a razorock mentor or mission is the open comb design.The open comb of this razor is what distinguishes it from the rest as it can give a more efficient shave with the smoothness of the open comb. This of course depends on technique but i found the cutting angle easy to find. Depending on the part of your face the nomal 30 degree angle or cap ridding are good choices but you would have to decide what's best for you.Build quality well its zamack, pot metal, what most razors are made of which don't get me wrong i love stainless steel but for the price and performance cant complain. I never had issues with zamack razors so nothing different here unless your prone to dropping things.Weight is surprisingly good! Im not a fan of light razors but this has a good weight behind it without being overly heavy. Knurling and grip at first i did not like as it felt too smooth but when you get your fingers into the star design on the handle, the knurling surprisingly grips you comfortably without it being sharp. I also think the star design looks cool. The handle is a good length not too short or long. I personally like the size of this handle over the pearl flexi which I find a bit too short or cramped up.The only knocks I can give it and this is being picky is that the blades that comes with (10 blade pack) are not common or known ones. I received only the chrome version so not sure if the other option has coating or quality control issues but with it being made in India (this is an unsupported assumption) like parker razors there always seems to have quality control issues. I know for the early versions of the pearl flexi there were quality control issues but since have been fixed after version 2.My conclusion is this is a very good razor which will either replace the razorock mentor i always recommend or be added to the razorock mission, mentor then pearl ssh02 recommendations order categorized by efficiency. I will reiterate this is a high medium aggressive/efficient razor so if your crappy Edwin jagger de89 or merkur 34c (i say crappy because unless you have fine facial hair and or sensitive or hyper sensitive skin those are crappy outdated common beginner recommended razors) ain't doing it for you give this a try. This razor definitely gave me a super close and comfortable shave even in my annoying hard to get spots on my neck and near my lip line( where the lip layer starts) very efficient and barely any alum block stinging if at all. love it and big bang for your buck in it's performance.

This is an excellent open comb razor, nicely balanced and hefty razor with good handle finishing helps to grip well, easy maneuvering, just shave with right angle and get smooth irritation free shaving, I tried with Astra platinum, Gillette Nacet, all goes good with this, can be used daily for close smooth shave, love way it packed and delivered, comes with blade and microfiber cloth, a quality product and happy with this purchase

This shaver is well built. It has the right amount of weight which is critical when shaving. The blade curve is not too much making it a bit aggressive. A good enjoyable experience with a bit of irritation. Didnt cut myself but got some lines on my face. Overall good but if you have sensitive skin trend carefully.

I can’t believe this razor is only $18. This razor is up there with DE safety razors I’ve paid over triple the price. I wanted to recommend this razor to beginners because of the price yet it’s a little aggressive. I actually cute myself for the 1st time in a while. I used the Willy’s blades that were provided with the razor, so the blades themselves might be on the aggressive side. Next time I’ll try a different blade. Other than that, I highly recommend. For under $20 everyone should add this razor to their collection!Edit-Not sure why the top of this review says “Color: Gold” as you can see in the picture I got the “Chrome” one.

When comes to wet shaving in india Pearl safety razor is the best. I was never fond of open comb razors as it's very aggressive and closed comb are not much aggressive but still it provides the gentle and baby smooth shave all time. The short handle provides comfortable hold in hand and smooth to glide.This will be one of ur collection in Safety Razors.MUST BUY

I had purchased two of these in August 2022. One for myself and one as a gift for a staff member. The pearl razor gifted to the staff member broke in January 2023. He said it broke itself after few weeks of usage.Mine broke yesterday on 08/03/2023 with warning. I just started to use it yesterday morning and it broke.It seems the material of the screw as is visible in the photo is not steel.So I am giving it one star for its poor quality of material.
