For those who are hungry for some good news.
Steven Pinker, professor of Psychology at Harvard, in his book ENLIGHTENMENT intends to prove that the world today is indeed better off than ever. Namely, life, health, prosperity, safety, peace, knowledge, happiness are on the rise worldwide. This book is quite uplifting. Pinker’s ideas and ideals are inspiring. Pinker sounds to be very optimistic about the future in every area of human existence. I wish he would be right.Being a Holocaust survivor this book pricked the trauma in me. I had experienced and observed that man’s capacity for evil has no limit; just as man’s genius is not limited to reaching new heights in every human endeavor. The Holocaust legacy has an intrinsic value as a warning for the future. In today’s paradoxical world, there are boundless opportunities for a better future. However, political and racial conflicts, religious fundamentalists, and fanatical ideologists may lead to a global crematorium. It will be much more destructive than the one in Auschwitz. We are living at a time when a perilous situation may turn catastrophic and engulf all of us. The thousands nuclear warheads in various hands around the world have the potential to destroy entire countries. CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons) capabilities are being sought by terrorists. A single terrorist can carry out an act that may cause the death of millions. I am surprised to read on page 191:”Terrorism is a unique hazard because it combines major dread with minor harm.” Terrorist killed in the United States close to 3000 people on September 11, 2001 is obviously not a minor harm. Also, addictions to alcohol, drugs and recently, addiction to video-games don’t bode well for the present and the future.I met many melancholic students from poor and rich communities. Nowadays, modern life fosters isolation rather than connection, which intrinsically enriches happiness. Suicide in the United States, as in some other developed countries, has become a Public Health Crisis.ENLIGHTENMENT denotes the importance of education, free speech, nonviolence, cooperation, cosmopolitanism and human rights. This brilliant book is well researched. Pinker makes the reader aware, or reminds the reader of the incredible progress we have made. At the age of 92 I remember how primitive life had been when I was a kid. Pinker elaborates on the central role of Enlightenment which is to improve the human condition, and how knowledge can enhance human flourishing. He covers psychology, religion, philosophy, history and politics. ENLIGHTENMENT is an excellent read especially for those who are hungry for some good news, as I have been for a long time in a long life.. Alter Wiener, author From a Name to a Number

Smaller than I thought
I was a little surprised about the overall size of the nipper because it is considerably smaller than the one I used previously. Since I have rather large hands, I prefer to use tools or implements by having all four fingers on the handle. On this device I can't comfortably get all four fingers on the handle when using it. I also found the blades themselves to be smaller than I prefer. I found myself having to make a series of small cuts to remove thick toenails. With my old nipper I was able to remove more of the nail at one time. The nipper does appear to be quite sharp, which is a plus. I can understand this would be a great product for people with smaller hands, so my rating is based on a personal preference as opposed to the nipper being an inferior product.

Extremely acurite build. Does an incredible job.
I absolutely love this tool. I was bitten by a dog last fall & the fingernail still comes up with a little bit of separation on the edge that I worry of catching on something & tearing it out. Regular clippers cannot get enough of it. As soon as I got this I very carefully got it down the inside edge of my nail & got it perfectly clipped. These are machined very well with a very accurate sharp edge. No need for big pressure, it does the job effortlessly. It also comes with a little tool you can use to pry some hidden finger or toe nail out to get a hold of without digging in & cutting up your skin. Plus they a in a convenient foam formed box to keep them in place. These are a must have & I wish I had tried them years ago.

Glad I bought it this saved my toenail
I am glad I bought this product! It is good and easy to handle. Why 4 star is ... when I open the box the plastic cap of the nipper seems used one scratched so I checked the nipper I don’t know it is used or new but anyway I like it so I washed it with soapy water and use it immediately.

Excellent high quality nail clippers.
Nicest nail clipper I have ever used. I am an RN and have cut a lot of nails in my time. These are high quality, very sharp, and very easy to use. They come in a very nice box and I highly recommend them for any kind of nails. They would work even with the thickest and most difficult kind of nails and would be great for the diabetic patient in your care or your life. Perfect and worth the money.

Work well for my very thick toenails.
I have very thick nails on my big toes. Normal scissors or toenail clippers would not cut them. These are just the ticket. They cut well and are comfortable in the hand.

Very sharp and cuts hard nails easily
I've been using standard nail clippers for more than 60 years, so it took me a couple of uses to get the hang of these. Sometimes it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks. The tips have a downward curve which I like, but they may not be for those who prefer a straight across cut. Clippings tend to fly across the room, but I'm not sure yet if that's the nippers or me.

Cuts well
Very sharp and good! Got them for my mom who has arthritis real bad and she can't really bend to cut her nails. I still ended up having to do it for her but she was a little miffed cause the clippers look like dog toenail clippers.
