Great knife & fix
Eagle Scout here. This is a solid knife. Sharp, rust resistant, the locking mechanism is strong. I am not an expert in knife making, but it can take what you give it to eat. Serrations is best for this blade if you looked at the other plain fillet blade xr.Blade flip jam - People have reported the blade lock up. It did on mine Just get mineral oil, soak it. (Careful slick...wear gloves) Clean it off. Then I applied gun oil with a needle nose (high heat) to the locking mechanism where the release is inside and out and to any part that moves. Open close. Repeat if it still won't open. Requires maintenance like anything else.Yes I would take it on the trail. However I'd still have a fixed blade and multitool. Always.Cons "EDC" slightly heavy in pocket, a little chunky. No snaggle tooth. That being said an equitable trade imo.SOG thanks for not making trash with bad metal anymore. Made in USA is mainly why I bought it besides being a very cool design.

Stellar heavy duty knife!
This beast is serious. If you don’t like heavy things in your pants pocket, go for something else. This knife is awesome, but a bit heavy. Personally, I don’t mind it at all. It is all business, and comes RAZOR sharp. This knife will take a beating and keep going.

Awesome tactical folder
I've owned the original SOG Seal XR for over 4 years and have enjoyed everything about it except it wasn't partially serrated. When I found SOG makes this heavy duty folding knife with my blade preference, I had to have it! It's everything the original is and then some!

One massive solid camp knife that can take a beating split wood open a can of beans etc
This thing is built solid, but with that comes the size it’s physically the biggest folding knife that I own. The blade could have come out the box sharper but with a little sharpening and stropping it will be shaving your arm hair in no time! On the bottom of the knife is a very sturdy metal piece that can be used as a weapon or to smash something. You can absolutely abuse this knife without worrying about damage. I personally think it’s too large to edc BUT I think it would fit great in the camp knife category along with also police/medics.
