So I have been using this spatula for the past 4 month and it has become my go-to spatula. I find it very versatile and replacing many of the other spatulas I have in my kitchen. I find it flexible enough to to pick up eggs in a high rimmed cast iron pot, yet strong enough to flip moderate heavy meats. Its flexibility its most obvious shortcoming when working with heavier foods, however there are often better tools than the spatula for this detail.I would also have to agree with other reviewers in that the handle is delivered a bit on the rough side. With about 3 applications of mineral oil spaced over a couple of weeks it had transitioned to quite a smooth surface. For me this is not a big deal as I typically do this 1-2 times per month for all my wooden/bamboo kitchen products and would recommend that others do as well.

I like this spatula, but you have to be careful with it when scrapping food from your pan. It's got a pretty sharpe edge. It scrapped seasoning right off of my carbon steel pan. Because the steel is so thin you have to be careful if you wash it with a sponge. It will cut pieces out of it. Once I realized how sharp this thing I adjusted my technique and I found it to be an excellent. I now see why this type of spatula is so popular. Light weight, allows oil to run off, and excellent for fish.

I have an old, old wood handle spatula like this that will eventually need replaced and this one fit the bill. Mine had a nitpicky issue where it didnt want to glide over the cast iron cooking surface but wanted to bite into it...I fixed it by taking my sharpening steel rod and taking the edge off the end of the spatula on both sides ...to be clear the edge was not sharp to the touch or had any burrs , only a couple of passes of the steel was needed to make glide like glass and you cant see where I touch it up.I will only buy wood handle versions, because I like carbon steel and cast iron cookware and leaving plastic in the pan will melt the handle....also I NEVER put wood handles in the dishwasher, always hand wash and dry, taken care of in this manner it would last a lifetime

This works great! I can't believe it took me this long to get one of these. It not only flips fish well, it flips any meat!It works great on the grill to flip meat and veggies. It also works very well is cast iron pans. It's very easy to clean. I do use a wood conditioner on the handle, I don't want anything happening to my new favorite cooking utensil.

I'm hard on kitchen equipment and managed to wreck both my vintage flexible spatulas, one by burning and one by scrubbing it down to rusting metal. Although people like me shouldn't be entrusted with nice spatulas, I went looking for new ones at Target and found only thick silicone things. How do people even cook with those? (Rhetorical question, no, no, please don't tell me I don't want to know.) This is where Amazon excels; I could look at a good selection of flexible spatulas and read reviews from other users. This one sounded very good for general cooking as well as turning fish. I am completely pleased. It is great for eggs, turning heavier pieces of meat, flexible when that's what you need, and strong enough for anything I've tried so far.

This is a great spatula, and I will get a lifetime of use from it. The wooden handle is wonderful, and is made of fine hardwood. I sanded the hadle a bit with fine sandpaper to remove the rough edges then applied flaxseed oil. The handle now looks like an expensive piece of furniture.The tool is well balanced, the right size, and a joy to use. Best for eggs or fish, but could be your main spatula.I love Dexter-Russel products, and they have never disappointed me. Also made in the USA!

This spatula is beautifully made! It does have a bit of rough edges due to the fact that it is made seemingly by hand. A little sanding and oiling and the wood is smooth. It is sturdy and does the trick! Would order again and recommend!

Slightly disappointed in this item. The wooden handle is not well finished and the blade is just a bit too insubstantial for my liking. It looks good, though!

I love it and use it with all my cast iron cookware. It's great!You can probably buy a cheaper comparible item but this is a luxury cooking device imo.

Quality small size US made fish turner but, the unbeveled edge is a disappointment. I have never seen a fish flipper without a tapered front edge before so not sure if these are factory seconds or what? It is just a blunt square edge. Handle is nice but, don't forget to treat with mineral oil and/or beeswax regularly.
