Close to a home made Indian recipe.
I have eaten pickled mango for 30+ years due to a friend from India who had her own home made concoction. This is as close as I have found to her families wonderful recipe.

Mango pickle ( with kernel) - This is the real deal !
There are many, many recipes when it comes to mango pickles in the Indian subcontinent and in quite a few the kernel isn't removed. It's just how a particular pickle is prepared. The taste of this specific pickle is very similar to what I was used to in India. "Shan" is better than most other brands I have tried in the US. And this pickle is almost as authentic as it can get.

Heavy 'oil', Plenty of Shards
Tried to eat this but it is filled with crushed mango pits, big chunks of non-edible mango seed, sort of like trying to eat coconut bark. With no doubt whole mangos were tossed in a 'grinder' and processed, seeds and all. Shards are sharp and will damage one's soft tissues, they are impossible to chew and must be spat out, swallowing might well be dangerous. The 'oil' tastes like mustard oil which is very disgusting. If any of the oil comes in contact with one's fingers or clothing their will be an instant stain that is very difficult to remove. 'Heat', it had no 'heat' at all. Really foul product. I am a lover of Indian pickles, but not this vile concoction.

Sublime flavor
Great mango pickle for a condiment. I mix with the garlic pickle sometimes and in chutneys.

Mango Pits, lots of them, need to be aware when eating,
Yup lots of mango pits, most of which vary from dime to quarter size and they're attached to the meat of the mango. You'll be making a cost/convenience trade off here. However if you know that's what you're buying (because of the price) then the quality of the Mango Pickle itself is good. While I prefer hotter mango pickle this mango pickle, this still has the vinegary tart bite of mango pickle that contrasts so well with curry. For the heat I can always shake some dried habanero. For the price you get plenty, but you loose some convenience since you'll need to "shell" the mango pickles inside.

So glad to find a source of achar.
I love Indian hot pickles. I use them to make Chinese food taste better, on sandwiches and just eat them plain.
