Excellent continuation of the series .

Superb continuation of a great series
What a crime that the show was cancelled after this season. It was still so great, with superb acting and always thought-provoking. Admittedly, I was missing kick-ass Dolores from season 3, but other than that, it was flawless. Not the least because of interesting new characters like C.

The new world
Fourth season of science fiction show Westworld. With eight episodes spread over three discs. Each episode running between fifty to fifty eight mins [approx]. This is not a jumping on point. New viewers should start with season one. Regular ones, read on. As with previous seasons strong language and violence make it a fifteen certificate.Picking up seven years after the end of the third season, the characters are now scattered to the four winds and doing different things. Caleb is a family man. Maeve is living off the grid. But the latter draws him back in when she realises bad things are going to happen.Meantime, a woman who looks a lot like Delores is having strange feelings about her reality...I loved the first two seasons of this. But had a few issues with the third. The show perhaps did lose a little something by going beyond it's initial setting. However, this season is better than season three. For one thing, characters can shoot straight. And you can hear all the dialogue as well.I can't say too much if anything about the plot without spoilers, so we shall leave that discussion. There are good surprises along the way, so I wouldn't want to ruin those. It does develop things quite nicely from where season three left off, with some good logical extensions of things. Although some plot points are really a bit vague. One in particular. Which still doesn't quite work even after a lot of thinking about it.It is dealing with some themes that science fiction has done many times, about identity and consciousness. It does work though. It does make you think about these. It is first and foremost a character drama. Some are more interesting than others though. Caleb is meant to be an every man. But somehow this just makes him a bit too average to be appealing. It was an interesting watch to see how the story developed though, and it did keep me hooked for that. The show was cancelled at the end of the season. The ending works. Both as an ending for the programme as a whole. And as set up for more. Which of course will not now come. I think I prefer it as the former though. And that's what we are getting. Not a bad season. Third best of the four. But a decent way to round it all off. Glad I saw it. And as ever, the music is great and does stick with you.The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English.Subtitles: English. Danish. Finnish. Norwegian. Swedish.Extras:Creating Westworld's reality. Each disc has this. Six min long features where cast and crew discuss each episode. These are paced just right, and do show and say some interesting things at times, so are worth a look.Westworld on the road. Sixteen mins of footage of location filming. In several different places. With commentary from those involved. Mildly interesting for the former.Westworld: an exploration of Humanity. Fifteen mins with cast and crew looking at the last season. One of those things where they explain what happens in a thing and how and why. The latter does have some depth to it so it's not a bad watch.Westworld's Temperance: A set tour. Five mins with two of the production staff showing you round one particular set. They're good presenters. And it's short and sweet pacing wise, so it's worth a look.

It's a difficult thing, realizing your entire life is some kind of hideous fiction.
You either love Westworld or not, they all need to be watched from beginning otherwise you will be confused. A terrible shame they cancelled the final fifth season. But don't put you off purchasing the 4 seasons, the final episode can be seen as an ending.

A poor second to the series beginning
It sort of closes the chapter on what’s going on but in my opinion in a very confusing way. I don’t quite understand why one AI has to have her brain trapped under a model of the city she has created for herself only to go into the never never world we’re again you live in a made up universe. Then there is the black cowboy and his copy! The copy was a little lost and sad and the trapped real one hadn’t aged in twenty years! Then there is the supper bady female indestructible AI who just sort of gives in and sits down and switches off - boring! What happens to mankind and all that jazz? Anyway like all things that drag on too long they lose their way and this one I think finally everybody who had even a little love for it are glad it’s over. Maybe when I get round to watching it again from the start I may be more generous on its outcome.

Lost the West in Westworld
With plotholes galore this season really does wander off in the wrong direction as it becomes obsessed with the villains who the show creators are obviously living through. Hale/EvilDolores just isn't an interesting character. Her relentless chatter goes no where like her storyline as she and William are allowed to get away with anything. The dystopian future is boring and pointless making you miss WestWorld itself. And NO ONE wants to see Dolores get out of bed over and over again for a while serise. Wasted opportunity

season 4 good
might be the best season since season 1 and season 2. HBO could of givein it the last season 5 but it will never happen, a ending of the story would of been nice but it's all about money and Warner Bros Discovery are just safeing money by not doing it. shame
