Front Loader smells? Not any more!
I have to say I bought this on a whim. I used them at first, then decided liquid detergent was "easier" Then, my brand new front loader started to "smell"... that musky water smell everyone complains about. After some research, that SMELL comes from the man-made DETERGENTS! yes! They accumulate in places, build up over time and they smell and hold bacteria. that's why they also sell those packets to "clean" your machine... it's to get rid of the build up from their products. So I went back to soap berries, and I have to say a few things about being persistent ( going on 2 months) about using them:1) MY FRONT LOADER NO LONGER SMELLS2) your clothes are clean, stains lifted and whites white. I think people have been brainwashed that clean laundry has to have a scent... that's just temporary chemicals.3) My clothes are so SOFT- you don't need any softener at all, and coming out of the dryer, no lint/static guards either. All those are chemicals to fight other chemicals... like fighting the side effect of a drug with another drug.- This natural, effective soap nuts thing is really worth the persistence ... and getting to love it and appreciate it.I highly recommend this on the High efficiency machines- and frankly only use this if you want to avoid that smell-

THESE SOAP BERRIES DO THE JOB! CLEAN CLOTHES
We really like these soap berries. The clothes come out clean and fresh smelling. The berries were packed in a paperbag which seems to be a good method of storage, months later the berries in the bag look just like the day they arrived. The 3 pound bag I bought has lasted longer than I expected. I like the fact that we are no longer using the chemical laden blue liquid detergent in the big plastic bottles. The hardest thing about using these soap berries is opening strings on the wash bag you put them in to throw int he washer. The price was the best, shipping was very quick will gladly buy from the seller again. THANK YOU!!

Packed in Paper NOT plastic bags :):)
People have reported that these come in ziplock/plastic bags but mine came in brown, unbleached paper. I found these on Subscribe & Save. They are good quality soap nuts for the price. I've used more expensive brands but these are pretty darn good. The nuts are a little drier/harder but still work. Have used about 1/2 the bag so far (5 months), however, I made liquid soap which uses more. I would expect this to last me about 8 months of regular washing 5-6 loads a week of bedding, towels, clothes by using 5 or so in a bag. Again, boiling the nuts to make liquid soap uses quite a bit more product but I wanted to try it:) You can also grind this with a food processor for 'powdered' soap. But again, you will likely use more product than just putting 5 or so in the wash bag that's included and reusing til gone. I have a zip lingerie bag that I just add to every now and then. When all used up, I toss the scraps in my compost. ps. start with a hot or warm water load to soften your nuts. These are a bit harder & drier than the expensive brands but it's just water that's evaporated. They still work great!

Get a different brand.
I've used soap nuts for years for laundry. This brand is the worst I've used. The nuts smell stronger than others and are sticky right out of the box. They break apart and don't last as long. They are from China - other brands I've used are from India and are much better - larger nuts that aren't smelly and sticky. I ended up throwing away 3/4 of a box and went with another brand. Yes, they get the clothes clean, but there are better brands out there.

Great for the environment. Great for clothes!
I love these soap berries. They do a great job of getting my clothes clean, leave them smelling clean & fresh, and are easy to use. Each wash bag of approx 12 berries lasts multiple washes so this 3 lb bag will last many months. The value for the cost is outstanding. What’s more is these create gray water that is safe for use to water garden plants. When they are ready to be replaced, I simply dump the used berries in my compost pile and add another dozen to the convenient wash bag and I’m ready for another load of laundry. No fuss no muss. The berries arrived packaged in a brown paper bag and were nice and dry and ready for use smelling fresh and aromatic!

Three pounds, three years!
I just noticed that I purchased my 3 lb box in 2020. I am still using it. The berries are as good as they were three years ago. I put about ten into a zippered mesh bag (I don’t use the little drawstring mesh bags) and I use them until the skins feel soft and pliable, 4 loads probably. I gave a box to my daughter who also has contact dermatitis from chemicals as I do. This is the only detergent she and her husband use. They live in Europe and they always take some with them to use in rental properties on vacations. I work as an RN and wear black scrubs. I am able to wash my uniforms with soapberries and not worry about the itching. I truly can’t praise them enough.
