Do Yourself A Favor and BUY THEM BOTH!
Do yourself a favor. This book, and it's companion volume, "Systema: Russian Martial Art--25 Combat Drills", BELONG together. You might as well purchase them both at the same time. The 25 drills of one book support the 25 practices of the other, and vice versa. As a practitioner of Systema myself, I found both of these to very helpful. I like the idea of working on drills, from basic to advanced, keeping in mind that we should never really "outgrow" the basics. Matt does a great job of reminding the reader of that dictum. I like his teachings so much that I bought the Kindle versions of these books so I can more easily carry both books with me when I travel. I refer to them often, and I suggest that you will, too.

A Return to the Freedom of Natural Movement.
Remember the freedom to move you felt as a child? The freedom to explore intuitively movement patterns, to test your limits, to play? All young animals do this, learning the movements and skills they will need as adults. We as humans, though, tend to leave this freedom behind as we get older, leaving play to the children, losing our spontaneity, and gradually becoming locked into patterns that over time will lead to reduced function. This excellent book of Systema health drills by Matt Hill is a wonderful return to that forgotten freedom to move, to throw off the regimentation of workouts that tend to turn us into a collection of poorly functioning parts. Buy this book, and it's companion manual of combative drills, and begin to unlock your body's natural grace and capabilities.

Quite good. I would only ask for a few more transition photos in some of the exercises. I suppose a view of the available training videos from your website would clear up any questions. In general the flow of the book and the training is very well presented. Thanks,

Useful aid to supplement your Exercise and overall health routine
Some breathing exercises I hadn't seen before. Not bad info. I'm trying to incorporate into my routine, while I haven't practiced the Art of Systema, I believe the techniques here can be applied to anyone.

This book has some great exercises worth integrating into a daily stretching and exercise practice. Matt Hill has comunicated the skills and exercises outlined in this book in a clear and concise way with good photos and written discriptions. Systema Health is a great resource for those who practice, or are interested in Russian Systema, or as an added resource for other martial arts and exercise disaplines.

Good combination - book and complementary videos
Easy to read. Short book. But what is great decision of the writer is to support it with complementary video. Even though explanations are very good they cannot be replaced with good old moving picture. Never the less, this pushed me to purchase other two books also. And I was not disappointed - videos are there:)Do not have any special dislikes.

Good supplement to Systema Instruction
Good compilation of solo practitioner and movement/conditioning exercises for the Systema practitioner. It is a great supplement, but not a replacement for qualified instruction.

A first class book written by a first class instructor ...
A first class book written by a first class instructor in the art. This book brings a refreshing new twist to health and fitness based on function and the psyche. In this work Matt Hill shows ways to really be capable and confident in our own skin. As a physiotherapist I see many people use the gym and do exercise and claim to be fit yet struggle to lift things out of the boot of the car or crawl around on the floor with children. The exercises and breath work really do allow a person to become able in life and to participate fully in acts of daily living. This work reallly brings the concept of functional fitness to life and provides a methodology that just keeps deepening and expanding the more you practice. I have no reservations in recommending this workIan Felix. Physiotherapist

Systema intrigues me and this book is a great pointer towards the health side of the art
Unfortunately, I don't live in Wiltshire or I would be training with Matt. However, Systema intrigues me and this book is a great pointer towards the health side of the art. I have only scratched the surface of the content but there is much in here I can incorporate into my training and indeed life so this is a keeper.Very good book and extra kudos for bringing it in at a sensible price-point as many books which centre around a martial art or similar can be very expensive due to their niche appeal.

A really helpful book which for me was a clear and practical introduction to the health strategies and benefits connected to Systema. Having a long-time yoga practice and an interest in Chinese internal martial arts, it was great to engage in approach that makes a similar creative use of the body and conscious relaxation. Matt has filled this book with a great range of practical exercises aimed at promoting health and flexibility for the martial artist or indeed anyone seeking to maximise their life experience!

Fantastic
Fantastic - starts with over view and the basics. Written in Blog style, easy to follow, dip in / dip out. Still at start, but always available. Author is respected in field, so that encouraged the buy. Thanks

A top notch book, highly recommend it.
Another great book! I have recently started researching Systema , looking for information on the subject and found this other gem.Written very clearly by one of the best practitioners in the UK.As I have said , in my other review, I have bought Matt Hill's other companion book on the subject, which is equally brilliant.
