Awesome!
I started watching this with my family at Hr beach this summer. So when we came home I told my husband about it and he loved it! He is very picky about what he watched on tv but he stays up til almost midnight watching this. I wish they had more in this series.

Inaccurate but entertaining
This is a super fun show to watch if you’re at all interested in the founding of the United States. There are definitely some inaccuracies, but that’s to be expected in anything that’s not a straight up documentary. The show is still very informative and entertaining to watch. Just be careful using some of the scenes and info as absolute facts. Definitely would recommend to a friend though.

Must watch ...
This is an inspiring look at victory over tyranny. It is well acted and mostly holds to the accurate historical account of the Boston Tea party, battles of Lexington and Concord Bridge... as well as, Bunker Hill. I love it... brilliant acting all around !!!

Fun to watch, but highly inaccurate.
I've watched this several times since it first came out. It's very entertaining, but before I get into anything else let me also say that it's also highly inaccurate. Take the opening scene. The Regulars enter a bar called "The Green Dragon" (which is still there today) looking for Sam Adams. Sam is in the place where he had been seating and his friends were obviously blocking his view from the soldiers, but for some unfathomable reason instead of staying put since the soldiers were about to leave, he runs and starts doing things like running on rooftops (the real Adams was a lot older than the actor, Ben Barnes who played him) climbing here and there. The writers thought a little action to the opening the scene would be fun and this action by Sam starts a chain of events that tells the story the creators want to tell. The movie introduced me to a great English actor named, Rafe Spall, and also a character named Dr Joseph Warren who accomplished more in his short (dying at the age of 32 in the Bunker Hill battle) life than a lot of people do in their whole lives. I found all I could about him. After he was killed the Regulars stripped him and mutilated his body and later another Redcoat dug him up and did some more unsavoury things to his body. If you don't know why the British soldiers hated him so much then look him up. Jason O'Mara was what we all think George Washington would have been like. Decisive, tall, brave, and to a large extent he was. Just an aside, the man who played Thomas Preston, is an English actor who had a prominent role in "Band of Brothers" as the medic. As other reviewers have said that if this gets someone who doesn't like history or doesn't know much about the American Revolution to start learning more about it then it's worth the inconsistency of truth in it. If they study about this subject then it will eventually lead them to England and their history about the Revolution and they can learn more about British or U.K. history along with Eire. I recommend it, but don't expect much accuracy just a fun series to watch.

Worth it! Gives a helpful grounded view of the conflict on the ground, before July 4th
We read and study this story of the Birth of our Narion, but these films tell it so clearly that it impossible to fail in understanding of exactly what led to what. The story from many points of view, focusing on one of the key players or another is needed, and after half a dozen of these, the lights go on, and it's real.I am not good about reading the stories written by old UK sources, though it interests me. Gone to love too long ago for America to be corrupted - so I will probably go find some of it and see. I think my side of things is just all - at least most - of the time, or why would I bother? So stories like this even refresh our sense of things I think and must not be lost. The main worth of this video series is in that for me. I am a New Englander with family in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and they always drown the story in so much patriotic love and honor that the reality of the thing can get lost. And though this version is "Plenty Patriotic" to please, the story line is followed from the beginning of unofficial confrontations. I forgot that "other" meaning of the word "lobster" for example.Watch it with a second device to google up the factoids - like ALL recounting of the American Revolutionary War, the details are "off" in places. It is idealized, even deified in spots, but you still get the idea that the goal is to share cleaner truths.I was surprised to find that the storyline about General Gage's wife being a spy is true, because they made her a Colonial Barbie, and that made me doubt, and she and General Gage were older- she was 42 at the time and mother of 3, and she may or may not have been know to be a spy by the General but she did help Dr. Warren, grieved his death, went back to England with her husband and outlived him by many years passing away at about 90.

Slightly modernized and generalized American History 201
Overall, I enjoyed this 5-hour mini-series that presented the 'fathers of the revolution' as 'sons of liberty.' The focus here is on Samuel 'Sam' Adams (Ben Barnes), John Hancock , Paul Revere (Michael Raymond-James), General George Washington (Jason O'Mara), Benjamin 'Ben' Franklin (Dean Morris), and Dr. (General) Joseph Warren (Ryan Eggold). The series picks up in the late-1760s and then jumps forward to 1774. Royal Governor of the Province of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson (Sean Gilder) and British soldiers are applyign pressure to the colonials who claim the right sof British citizens. In time, Huthcison is replaced by the tyrannical British General & Military Governor of the Province of Massachusetts Thomas Gage (Martin Csokas)are suffering under the tyrannical. As General Gage applies brutality, illegal searches, beatings, and military attacks, the leaders of the resistance adopt the name, the Sons of Liberty. The actign is solid, the action goood, and the script intelligent. There were some issues such the one-dimensional protrayals Sam Adams as emotional trouble-maker, John Hancock as a selfish and insecure man, Dr. Warren as a righteous man who falls for the wife of Gage, Margaret (Emily Berrington), and Ben Franklin. Generals Gage and Washington are accurately portrayed.I thoroughly enjoyed this mini-series.

Rip-off!
This History Channel series is a good series. My issue is with what LionsGate did with the dvd presentation. Disc one had two episodes on it which was fine. The second disc, however, has only one episode on it and there is a complete episode missing. What you get is a post view of the missing episode but there is no episode on the disc. The story jumps to the final episode and the viewer is left to fill in the missing parts. It totally ruins the series. I can only suppose that LionsGate did this to save space, time, and money by shortening their presentation. Whatever the reason, shame on them. I do not recommend this dvd for purchase, save your money.

You should screen companies you deal with as it is a reflection on amazon
This product was a joke I would have given this purchase minus 10 stars but the only option you gave was 1 star. I was ripped off never could play it and the code they gave to redeem never worked invalid I called the numbers listed for assistance I kept getting put to other companies...NOONE COULD HELP ME SO NOT ONLY COULD I NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO BUT I SPENT AN HOUR ON THE PHONE WITH EITHER NO RESOLVE OR NOONE WOULD RETURN MY CALL. I PAID OVER $27 for this piece of crap and endless valuable time trying to get help I have never felt more ripped off in my entire life. This purchase has made wary of purchasing via amazon

Fantastic show!
This is one of my favorite series about the American Revolution, or the events leading up to the American Revolution. Definitely a good watch. 5 stars. The CD case was a little bit cracked but it wasn't a big problem for me with all CDs still working.
