The reason for the return is that the air return is in the ceiling and the filters, though they are the correct size, the model needed has "lip" that is part of the measurement--thus these filters are too large.I took them to UPS to return and, because I do not have the box, the cost to ship them back to you is $62 and change even though I had the return authorization.The filters cost me $96.06. How do I send these back without paying another $62?

Purchased this item at a super price. Have always used this brand with great success. Quality is excellent and functional. Good air flow and always good fit.

I can tell that these filters are high quality. However, they seemed bigger than the stated size, as referenced in other reviews. I had issues getting it to slide into place. My previous filter was able to glide in and out easily (same stated size). However, when I tried to insert this filter, I had issues getting it to go all the way in. I had to really work it in. When I pulled it out to make sure there was no damage, I unfortunately noticed that some of the cardboard had been torn. I was still able to use it. However, it was a little frustrating that the product itself did not hold up due to it being larger than expected. Overall, they do look like they are a better quality than my previous filter and I have not noticed any issues. I bought the 4 pack because of the value. However, had I known there would be a size issue I probably would have just bought 1 and tried a different brand. Just not looking forward to pieces ripping when I put in a new one again. The price point is great but just a little misleading on size.

3M Filtrete air filters are clearly superior to the competition, in my opinion. They are dimensionally precise and the filter media is superior. Bear in mind that 3M is the long-term standard bearer for HEPA level medical air filtration and masks so they know what they are doing. This purchase was my first of a 4" filter. The filter box on my furnace accommodates both 1" and 4" inserts. I've never thought to try the 4" size since I've used 1" units my whole life, and the 4" filters are very expensive. I switched when I saw that commercial plenum air filters are all of thicker depth. Plus, I now realize that the 4" filters last MUCH longer, reducing the hassles of change-outs. I am sold on 4" filters and 3M Filtrete filters in particular. Highly recommended.
