"...such stuff as dreams are made on..."
Epoxy clays are truly revolutionary products enabling us to sculpt or repair almost anything, and Magic Sculpt is my favorite because of its hour-long drying time and rugged durability! Happily too, this marvelous product is made in America. I use this splendid medium to create small figurative sculptures, but I've also used it to do small repairs on cracks in wood, metal, and ceramics. I had been using Apoxy Sculpt acquired from a hobby shop, but its 3-hour drying time left me wanting something that cured faster, so I was thrilled when I happened to learn of Magic Sculpt here on the Amazon site. I immediately bought some to experiment with, and honestly, this material is my favorite sculpting medium EVER!!! If you're at all curious about it, do yourself a favor and get some! You can do virtually anything with this good stuff. Personally, I like to start off with a small wire armature, then build up a basic form with wet paper covered by foil; these are habits I picked up while using Sculpey. Then mix equal portions of the two parts of Magic Sculpt and start sculpting! You'll have about an hour to work, although if you need to take a break, just put your work in a freezer; cold inhibits the medium from hardening (at least for a few days or longer...but not forever!). When you remove it from the freezer, it will seem hard for a few minutes, then it will 'sweat' condensation, and then it's ready for further work! Initially, the material is very impressionable, rather like chewed gum, but thankfully not as sticky as Apoxy Sculpt in its first half hour or so. You can use anything to make impressions or textures on your sculpture, and/or you can go at it with whatever tools you prefer. Magic Sculpt adheres strongly with virtually everything it's applied to. You can even sculpt on toy action figures to alter them in any way you like! If you wish to add on to previous work, you can do that as much as you want to, just wait until it's dry and add another layer. Alternately, you can shave or sand away what you've done if you wish to start over. Magic Sculpt can also be applied to baked Sculpey, plaster, and probably anything else you'd like to repair or further improve. For repair work, or as a putty for models and so forth, it's best to apply the material in the first fifteen minutes or so after mixing; this is when it is most 'tacky' and adheres best. Dab your finger or a tool in water to help smooth the Magic Sculpt if you need a smooth surface; the grain is so fine it seems breathed on! If you wish to paint it, wait until it's dry and spray on some primer. I prefer acrylic primers, but anything will probably do. If your work is outside or exposed to sunshine, you must prime and/or paint it; reportedly the epoxy clays are sensitive to UV light and will gradually deteriorate. Having said that, I used some to fill a gash in a rubber car bumper two years ago, didn't paint it (because it was white on white), and it still looks fine! Truly, there's so much more I'd love to say in praise of this excellent material. Look around online, and you'll see the astonishing variety of uses this medium is capable of. Magic Sculpt totally lives up to the promise of its good name!

Really good product!
I use magic sculpt to make ventriloquist puppets and I love it! I have used a few other brands to make the puppets and they never turn out right; or they are not easy to work with. Magic sculpt is the easiest and best product to work with! I love it and highly recommend it!

Three Stars
Product not as fresh as 5 lb containers. Harder to use.

Great for any sculpting needs
This epoxy clay is all I use to sculpt dinosaurs. When fully hardened it is stronger than a resin casting and is perfect if making on off sculptures. It has a long working time of about 8 hours, so fine details can be done.

Wonderful stuff! Best resin clay we worked with.
See the review for the 5 lb. tubs. This is some awesome stuff. We can't imagine there is better resin clay out there.
