It's not sturdy enough to put anything heavy on the upper shelves. It's fine for jars of coffee, sugar and other such things, but deffinatly not strong enough for anything else. There's nothing to stop items from slipping off the sides or back of the shelves if you have it on angle away from the wall, which I have to because of the place it has to live and the way my microwave opens. I glued a thin strip of wood along the back on the top shelf, and used spare luggage straps to go across the back between the 2nd and 3rd shelf using the back frame supports to attach them to stop things vanishing off the back. As you can see in the photo, the support brackets are not good as they are cut straight instead of on an angle to fit the shelf support. Could be why it's not strong enough to support heavier items on the second shelf. It's a good job I only wanted it to get jars and my coffee pod stand off the counter top. Apart from the stupid support brackets cut wrong, it's stable and was easy to put together. Comes with a screw driver, but it wasn't much use as the handle was as RAF and small, so was difficult and painful to use. Take my advise, don't fully tighten the screws at first and put the lower back wood support in with it laid flat on a firm but soft surface, then attach the middle shelf, then the top one without standing it up, then go back and tighten up all the screws. It's so much easier like this, and saves any ripped wood/I'll fitting screws. Only takes 5 minutes or so to put it together.

This is a very handy shelf unit. It fits over our microwave and we have a toaster on top. It allows you to use both items in a small space. A friend has one over the top of her microwave and has placed her spices etc on the top. It allows you double height storage in a tight space.

Easy to build u get everything u need even the tools, great for my small kitchens as I do have a lot of small appliances that I use and this frees up counter space
